If the brake fluid has not been changed for about 5 years they will have seized up with rusty water and brake fluid.
Just swapped two on friday - run a litre of of new fluid thru - Before your replacement calipers go in.

load sensing valve is the usual suspect before condemning calipers

its a valve on top of the rear axle with an arm and spring and a load of pipes coming out of it. If its siezed then it restricts the amount of fluid that can flow to the rear calipers leading to poor footbrake performance.
