on a positive note it looks shiny but isnt doing your paint any favours.

Well thats main dealers for you they have no clue, have a read on here therr is plenty of useful information about the right way to clean a car.

Plus you have a black car so easy to get awesome results.

Re: the spoonge. A good way for someone to find out what a sponge does to your paint is to use the sponge in the shower. See how that feels, then you will see how abbrasive it is on the paint.

Also the sponge is a flat surface which traps the dirt between the sponge and the car and drags it along the paint causing swirl marks etc. The wash mitt uses magic and doesn't :y:

Did you say they use brushes to clean cars at a garage??

Eurgh I could walk into any car garage with my products and leave the "detailers" looking baffled. Tempted to go in one day, clean a car for them properly and ask for a job.

then theyd compare your prices to the car cleaners and tell you your services were unrequired lol.

Ultimately thats what it comes down to - 99% of people will be happy with their car getting a power wash and sponge down, so theres no point in the dealer paying someone to "detail" every car.

Yeah but its vauxhall and they use pretty much a garden brush to clean customers cars, we have nurburgs coming in vxr8s etc and they all get the same treatment, its not right really but they do worry about price and cost far too much

Thanks again for the comments on the tyres and views :D

A proper detail takes too much time for a main dealer. Well, when I say too much time, I mean they will CLAIM it takes too much time... I know for a fact I would have much preferred picking up the fiesta a few hours later so that I didn't end up collecting a new car with a scratch on it... :S

Or £450+ for a paint correction after you have used your scourer aka the sponge, simple math suggest £9 is a bargain.

LOL same, i thought he was really hydrated and taking a huge wazz on his car

Look on eBay for a microfibre washmitt

I bought a lambswool mitt ages ago, used it once and didn't really like using it plus with it being lambswool it stinks when wet, just smells like a wet sheep

The microfibre washmitts are so much better it's all i use now, really gentle on the paint but still gives the car a lovely clean

Also have a microfibre wheel brush for the wheels which i love

only the wrong type of sponge will damage car.use a valeting sponge(looks more like bob than those big yellow buggers that do drag the dirt with them)and as long as you replace it after 4/5uses then its fine, not as if they are expensive??worked in a bodyshop for a few years, i would make suggestions that would ruin a fellow sax-p member :D

As soon as someone mention's they have worked in a bodyshop i just cringe, quick turnarounds mean shit prep, shit spraying, and poor finishing down afterwards with G3 and a shitty mophead on a single speed hacksaw!!!

Go away with shit advice please.
