Hey,

Im starting to do tracks now, and wanting to know what setups you lot use?, not fussed about amazing quality, just want it watchable, and the sound to be decent! As will be only on Youtube//Facebook.

Also how go about mounting it etc? And the rules of having one?

Thanks!

Liam.

As far as I'm aware the rules with mounting video cameras is that the must be propley fitted to the car.
My best advice is to check with the track day promotors them selfs as they may have there own rules!
Hope this helps! :)

Looking at about £375 ish. Well worth it though! 7 days of recording basically once setup, VERY high quality camera, turned on/off with ignition etc. I'm really happy with the setup. :) When you want it on the PC, just remove the card from the DVR, plug into the PC, instant playback - no conversion etc. :)

I use the ultra-clamp (top of the list), and a normal point-and-shoot digicam set to video mode. I get a bit of vibration noise that i'm trying to work on getting rid of, but video quality is good.

Would I be able to screw iPhone 4 bracket into dash? And cable tie phone into the holder?

I got a microSD camera for £12 off eBuyer.com , works a treat and comes with an abundance of brackets that you can cable tie to the centre bar of your roll cage. Just the sounds a bit crap...

Thats with the 3, yeah I was impressed with how little vibrate you get. Aye, she goes well.

Home made (Though I like to use the term 'fabricated'...) bullet cam mount FTW!

Recording to an Archos MP4 device.

Will upload an example vid of it shortly. Quality is pretty good, and with the camera being outside and the microphone being inside you dont get screen glare on the video and dont get wind noise on the audio.

I really like that, what were the overall costs?

No one tried the GoPro?
http://gopro.com/cameras/hd-motorsports-hero-camera/

One of my mates has one but has been too paranoid to attach it outside the car so not seen any driving vids with it, video quality is much better than any other setup i've seen so far.

Thanks.

It's hard to say on overall costs really as I got the Archos and camera way back in 2006 when MP4 players were still silly money, particularly if they had a recording capability.

The mount it's self is just a bolt of the same thread as the arial welded into a V shaped length of steel sheet with a C shaped bit of sheet welded on top. The Camera is wrapped in the furry side of velcro while the inner and outer surfaces of the 'C' have the hook side, sticking the camera in the mount. A strap of the fluffy stuff makes sure it stays tight and a lock nut holds the bolt tight in the arial bracket. All in the actual mount was only a couple of quids worth of materials and could easily be made for any type of bullet camera if you change the radius of the cup to fit.

So I guess overall costs would be, whatever the cost of a modern bullet cam of your choice, plus a couple of quid!

I have got the gopro hd motorsport & the ca sports hd max extreme

In a car with lots of vibration you need to get the mounts as stiff as possible
