Hi there,

Before I say anything, it's my first post. Noticed some very interesting sections on this forum so I thought I'd join in!

This isn't my first car. My Mk4 Fiesta was recently scrapped due to a rotten chassis, so I needed another run about car for the time being until I save for a better car (Mk5 Golf). But to be perfectly honest, I've developed a soft spot for this little car, so I may keep this for a while longer than I thought.

Well here's my second car, a 1998 Citroen Saxo Mk1 1.0 East Coast in Green. 61,000 on the clock, body and interior in stunning condition, MOT'd and taxed until next year - £500. That sounds okay, yeah?

Apologies for the bad photos on this thread, they're taken with my phone. One of my main hobbies is photography so I'll get some great photos soon.

The interior was in a horrific state. The previous owner was a smoker, builder, pet owner and didn't care for the car. Used it as a building van most of the time. I'll post images of how it was and how it is now tomorrow sometime. But in all fairness, he did add the rear wing (which I quite like), and fitted a brand new exhaust. It's not after market, but it does give a nice deep subtle sound at low revs.

I'm not all into heavy modifications on cars, I'm more into keeping it in great condition and improving it here and there. There were a few things that I wanted to do to the car. Respray the standard wheel trims to white (sets the dark green colour off more), spray the rotten windscreen wiper arms, and spray the back badges (I'm no expert on car restoration, so bare with me).

Here's some images:

The original scratched trims.

Sprayed white. A terrible spray job, but it's temporary. I'll rub these back and prime them for a better spray job soon.

Taping the wipers before I painted them glossy black.

Not a bad result (no images of what they were like before sorry).

These were the badges in their original state. Seeming the wheels were white, I had a go of turning these white as well.

The car after it's had a wash, wax and spray jobs on the wheels & windscreen wipers (awful photo, sorry!).

Another angle (notice the bubbling on the wheels, I'll re-do these properly soon).

The new, non-rotten glossy wipers.

The rear of the car, with the new white badges (thoughts?).

A great finish to the metallic paint after a wax.

I've yet to put bumper care on the black trims, but on that note I've seen a few people on here that have done things that I may do to mine. Glossy black bumper trims, turning the clock into a rev counter, to name a few.

In a few days time I'll be getting some MTEC bulbs. I do a lot of night driving, so these will help a treat (unless someone can recommend better?).

So there you go! What are your thoughts? Thanks everyone!

Cheers! It's such a smooth ride, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. I didn't expect it at all, especially for £500!

I've always gone by "You look after a car and it'll look after you". My last car was a 1.8D Encore Mk4 fiesta, red with black bumpers. Sounds horrible but it was in beautiful condition.

I've just decided that I'm going to get new badges for the back, and some new trims. I'm slowly starting to dislike the white, looks a bit tacky...
