Hi there,

Changing the lights and dis-assembling the dash has been asked before, and I've seen plenty of threads on it. Howerver I never got a clear answer to whether the green backlit colour of the MK1 dash is coming from green lights, or from some sort of green filter for the lights to pass through?

Basically I'm aiming to make the dash white. If it's the lights, then that's easy. If it's some sort of filter, I'm worried that it would be part of the dials?

Thanks!

yeh its a filter on the dials i believe (because it just uses standard filament bulbs)

if i were you, i'd get a scrap set of dials, fiddle til you can get them how you want and replace your current set :)

Suppose so! :) How would I eliminate the green though? Is it a film over the back of the dials, or is it actually crafted into the numbers and lines of the design?

If it's the latter then, safe to say, I doubt I'd bother. Would love to know :(

i cant remember - but i do know you can buy the plastic dial bit - you could get an aftermarket one with no filter
