oil temp sensor?

hey guys, ive got a problem with my vts, my oil temp is not showing on my dials, when the ignition is on the dial does move (so i no the dials work fine) but the needle stays at the bottom, its an 03 plate 3plug ecu engine, ive used the search button and found the oil temp is located in the sump, ive had a look under the car and there is no sensor, is there any other location where the sensor is located or is the only place to put it in the sump?

On the later VTS' with 3 plug ECU, the oil level and oil temp sensors are combined into a single unit. The sensor screws into the front of the block. It's just below the oil pressure switch and has a green connector IIRC.
