Right, basically I live in birmingham at my mums, and my dad lives in devon, insurance at my mums is about 3k with 1ncb and at my dads its 1k with 1ncb, if I insured it at my dads but was mainly in birmingham would the police say anything? Couldn't I jusy say I'm visiting my mum? My driving licence is registered at my dads btw

when doing the quote, sometimes it asks where the vehicle will be normally kept. try insuring it in devon but saying its often kept in birmingham?

You have to be sensible, if you insure it at your dads yet the car is registered to your mums and your occupation is plumber (for example) which is based in Birmingham then your insurance company will put 2 and 2 together in the event of a claim.

If you live at your mums then it's meant to be registered there otherwise you could have a void policy, especially if you get pulled by a police officer who is having a bad day...
