£4k
40mpg
Sporty-ish & RWD
Reliable
Capable of fitting a kart in back
Comfortable ie Aircon, leather & poss satnav?

I was thinking about an e46 330d but think that's outer my range. Could go to £5k but would rather not.

Please don't bother suggesting unless it meets at least 4/6 of the criteria.

Get searching. Winner gets my spanking sock.

I've been looking at boosted mx5's to replace the Jazz but not for everyday.

Ps. SS is a fucking nightmare now.

The only genuine e36 "sport tourer" was the 323

Tbh at the time Id love a 328 tourer so that's defiantly getting my vote!

Volvo 850 estate. Meets all of the above bar being rwd (and possibly the 40mpg depending how you drive) :(. The T5 or T5-R version goes like a stabbed rat as well. If you defo want RWD the 940 and the 740 are slightly older but share the common old volvo traits of being utterly bombproof, and having the tardis effect of being huge inside but relatively compact on the outside.

Good call, these are basically a skyline estate. You can get the nutter versions with the same engine and drivetrain as the R34 GTR V-Spec II  Excellent sleeper material :D.

Don't go for a 3 series if you want boot space, they are a bit limited. A6, E-Class Merc or 5-series Beemer estates if you want to to do some load lugging.
