Gritty noise when hitting above 3k revs

No matter what gear I am in, when I go to accelerate over 3000 revs I start to hear this gritty noise. It's as if it's an intake problem, maybe an air leak? Forgot to add that it's temperamental.

Any help is appreciated.

When the car is stationary out of gear does it make it? Open the bonnet and push the butterfly cable bit and listen out.. then report back :p

after some hunting, i have realised that it cannot be heard when outside/ engine bay. however it is loudest when you have your head in the drivers footwell.

any ideas?

i also have this problem mate, quite annoying.

check unerneath the throttle body/intake manifold. just had a few in the garage with samish problems
