For only a years NCB i'd say VTR as it's group 7 insurance and the VTS is group 14 :O
I went for a Furio as it was a good buy and is only group 5 insurance..my old XR2 killed me on insurance so couldn't really afford insurance on a VTR/S after that...

Difference between the R and S?
In higher revs yeah the S is much faster but tbf i didn't notice it until about 4k revs, before that it seemed like a VTR, and my mates VTR isn't much quicker than my Furio, i can keep up with him all day long
The power difference from dropped from the XR2 to the Furio was shocking though...i miss it

I looked at a few Zetec S before i got the spaxo but most of them had rust issues as most fiestas do, and the saxo worked out cheaper insurance.

I went from a Clio 1.2 to a Saxo VTR and I'm glad I did, I love the Saxo! It felt a hell of a lot quicker, but now I've 'settled' in driving it it doesn't feel the same haha.
If you can afford the insurance of the S then go for it, if not then an R is a good choice I reckon!
