- R5 GT Turbo - 138.01 Bhp/ton Insurance: £645.38
- 306 Gti-6 - 137.56 Bhp/ton Insurance: £578.15
- Clio 172 - 135.14 Bhp/ton Insurance: £773.19
- 205 Rallye - 130.37 Bhp/ton Insurance: £404.31
- Proton Satria GTi - 123.77 Bhp/ton Insurance: £768.95
- Daihatsu Charade GTti - 122.5 Bhp/ton Insurance: £570.73

Valver is such a stupid term...

Don't you already have like a million cars already or am I getting you confused with someone else?

yeah i have loads of cars, did think about just using the 16v Rallye i have but its the derivative of all saxo's 106's etc just want something a bit different. i'd rather just have a cheap car to motor about in and not worry about the mileage racking up, whereas if i rack it up in my Twingo it will depricaite alot!! more than it has already anyway.

I know it's not fun, but I'd just get a shitty diesel and make do...

Sounds as if you already have a fair few fun cars already though and I can't see any other cars being drastically different, especially if it's just to potter about in... Sounds like you will just get bored of ANY car.

Giraffe
12th July 2011, 10:26
If you want a retro hot hatch, I'd suggest a Polo G40?

BBM
12th July 2011, 10:27
G40's cost mental amounts, clean one up here is up for £3500

dont get the diahatsu. a friend has one, they are shockingly slow and do not deserve a GTI badge.

MG Metro turbo, won't get any more retro than that, Very good A series engine, just get the gearbox uprated though lol.

Much rarer than any of the others and in my eyes a real classic ,such as the 205.;)

MiniGibbo
12th July 2011, 11:19
Are those figures fact, ie the 205 1900 being 148hp per ton?

@Tommo87, good luck even finding a ef9 let alone one this lad could afford ;)

Get an E30 320. You'll have more fun/£ in that than with any of the others mentioned

e30's..

Wouldbt buy a e36 318is :homme:

Not many people know the 320is, its a italy/portugal only type affair with a midly detuned s14 straight out of the m3.

I can afford an 11k car outright, but don't want to spend that tbh, prefer it just to sit there in premium bonds or something, for a rainy day.

BMW's now i can't really afford the insurance on them and it doesn't really float my boat, i quite fancy a small engined turbo'd ie 1.0 > 1.4 Turbo cars

130 bhp and the weight is roughly 880kg (some say less some say more)

yeah cos there boring, run of the mill etc, if you saw a mk1 golf on the road i wouldn't notice it.

Mochachino
12th July 2011, 13:50
Im confused at what you actually want now.

You started off by saying something thats fun to drive that isnt a saxo/106.

Then you want retro, now you want something that catches the eye on the road.

Throwing random figures and prices about lol

All the cars you named are around the sameprice to insure, and if you got 11k for a rainy day insurance difference of £100 for these cars shouldnt be a factor. Id spend £100 more on insurance for a better example of a better car anyday.

Not sure what you want out this thread now tbh lol probs change again in a sec.

Tommo87
12th July 2011, 13:52
That crx is nice.

Oh and if that MK1 is the one I'm thinking it is then it's immaculate.

Mochachino
12th July 2011, 13:52
Also is it worth paying £2700 to save the miles on your twingo? Is your twingo going to depreciate by £2700 for the miles you would do on this next car?

0rang3peel
12th July 2011, 13:58
I'm confused aswel.

It's very rare to see a mk1 golf on the road, it's a proper car enthusiast/drivers car, fair enough if you arn't a fan but getting impressed by a suzuki capposhitto is strange as it meets none of your criteria lol.

Crx is a cool shout

Vtr_Cam

When you say retro hot hatch, first thing i think of is a mk1/2 golf.

Jordysport
12th July 2011, 14:07
Just want a car thats cheaper to buy than my twingo, around £2000 or less in price to buy and not extortionate insurance. just comparing performance as like anyone else i'd like more performance for the same price.

vtr-cam, the first thing that comes into my head is Lotus Sunbeam.

Mk1 or mk2 Golf Gti?

What's your budget?

Try a mk2 GTi 8v, Good fun to drive in and around town and the mileage isnt a big worry on them.

Plus you can pick up a nice one for about a grand these days!
