I could be wrong but from what I have read, trader insurance is just for that ....Trading.
It's not designed to allow people to drive a car on a full time basis.
Like I said I could be wrong but I doubt you will be able to get round the system that easily
How old are you? If under 20 you are likley to pay £££ on a VTS tbh

you can but he will get proper shafted if you don't work for/with him full time basis can put it on as a business vehicle but it all depends on the insurance company. and i could cost as much as a normal policy.
a mate of mine works for his dad and runs his car on the business's traders insurance but but because he is under 20 there are so many limitations iirc he can only drive upto a 1.4 petrol and a 1.6 n/a diesel but used to be able to drive anything but they have cracked down on it.

I got added onto IM Axles trade policy for work use only and it cost an extra £150 I think it was. Once I was on I could drive any car providing it was for work use.
If in the possetion of the car for over 2 weeks then you have to put that cars reg onto the traders policy as its no longer for temporary use such as a customers car.
