Have just failed an mot on a insecure drivers seat, ive taken the seat out all the screws are there all tightened up, tightened the seat back down into the car, there is movement when you get hold of the seat, but you can see it moves in the rails... is this normal? or will it fail again
cheers

Mine did it front corner near gear lever.some rust there and the end of the bolt comes up from the car. i took the seat out whent under carpet and made a hole so i could get under where the bolt end is.It is double skinned so you cant see from under the car and i just used a little plate with a hole in in for a washer, hope this helps, better than welding

did this myself but the thickness of the washer can affect the seat when you slide it foward it get hard to push it. so you can grind off the thickness of the washer from your seat.

Move the seat forward you`ll see a gold coloured bracket type thing with a clip over the top of it.Adjust the clip by moving it along the runner until it`s at the back of the runner. You should find it takes out the movement your on about. Also when you put the seat back in tighten up the torx bolts on the outside of the seat 1st this takes a lot of the play out of the seat.

If what Stevo67 said doesn't work for whatever reason, or even if it does work and they still fail it... you should know my mate had a 1.5D Saxo which failed on the same problem... solution was to have the garage weld the seat to the chassis lol.
