I have the feeling a move to AC Milan may be on the cards, some of the stuff he's been saying in the papers about it all is pretty bad too. That little wink pissed me off so much! I hope he crashes his Suzuki Swift into a wall and can never play again!

What did Ronaldo have to do with England being knocked out? England played well for two hours. They can NEVER take penalties. These things happen. It wasn't our time this year. And to be honest... the way England have played up until now, they are very lucky to get where they did.

But maybe what Ronaldo did was unprofessional. But... are you saying Rooney's slip of the foot into the groin of a Portugese player was accidental and professional? I think not. If Ronaldo (or any other Portugese player) did that to an England player, I know what eveybody would be thinking.

Handbags :)

End of the day he's going to get hammered by the fans in the premiership regardless of who they support (including man u fans)

im not sure if it was on purpose because it did seem he slipped he was not looking at c ronaldo but it doesnt matter now

DevilDamo
3rd July 2006, 14:25
Well... after Rooney was basically being hacked to the ground by two Portugese players, nobody would agree that Rooney had "slipped" his foot into that particular area. It was a retaliation and we all know what Rooney is and can be like. But... professional players (like Ronaldo) shouldn't have done what he did.

I apologize but your categorising Man u and Man u fans as ronaldo supporters:

I Hate C Ronaldo. Man U Fans Should Be Ashamed Of Ureselfs Lol

I for one hate him, he thinks hes "it"

The ref wasnt even going to book rooney after he stood on the lads balls, it was when ronaldo jumped in a encouraging the ref to card rooney and rooney pushed him, the whole refereeing of the world cup up to now has been a sham, ive seen better refereeing at a sunday league match lol

Taken from BBC sport:

Winger Ronaldo appeared to encourage referee Hector Elizondo to dismiss his Manchester United team-mate after Rooney stamped on Ricardo Carvalho.

Rooney pushed Ronaldo away before being dismissed but Ronaldo said: "Between me and Rooney, there is no problem.

"At the end we texted each other and between us everything's been cleared."

He added: "The things that have been said regarding me and my team-mate and friend Rooney are incredible.

I'm not a referee and I don't have the power to send a player off

Cristiano Ronaldo

"He wished me the best of luck in the World Cup. He told me we had a great team and that if we continued to play like this, we would go far.

"He wasn't angry with me and, moreover, he told me to completely ignore what the English press has said, that all they wanted was to create confusion, but we are already used to that."

Ronaldo insists he is not to blame for Rooney's dismissal, despite appearing to wink at the Portuguese bench once the red card had been shown.

"I am not a referee and I don't have the power to send off a player," said Ronaldo.

"I had nothing to do with the fact that the referee showed the red card."

Ronaldo, who scored the winning penalty in the dramatic shoot-out, also says he has no intention of leaving Manchester United, despite being linked with a move to Real Madrid.

"There have been comments published in which I reportedly said that I didn't want to go back to Manchester United," he said.

"That is completely false. Of course I want to go back. It's just typical of the English press but I don't lose any sleep."

3rd July 2006, 14:35
yeah i dont think it was a red card though to be honest, the ref was not going to give him a card untill Ronaldo started shouting at the ref to book him and then rooney pushed him!! so he got the card!!

Also why did we not get the hand ball in the second half, that was so obvious a blind man could of seen it!!

the ref gave everythink to portugal i thought and the way portugal played in their last 2 games did not deserve to go through in my opinion!!

Just a question but what the fuck is the 4th official for? FIFA have said that they dont want to bring video footage into football like they do in rugby which is a load of bollocks as it needs it to much diving and cheating going on now

jaybiss
3rd July 2006, 14:45
sod the foruth official

will ruin the game for good

there wont be any banter if there is video evidence

although hsaying that birmingham havent really had any luck so maybe it will help us.......

DevilDamo
3rd July 2006, 14:48
Ummm... the official did very well when the English ref made a mistake of issuing three yellow cards before issuing a red. Nice one Brits.

saxoash

if they had video evidence figo wouldnt have played againts england, ronaldo would have been sent off for headbutting rooney, we would have had a pen....

jaybiss
3rd July 2006, 14:51
football will become boring if tv replays etc are brought in

and if a player dives and they dp to the replay, it will make the game stop and start and will dirupt the flow of the game

DevilDamo
3rd July 2006, 15:02
And issuing 16 yellow cards isnt!?! Hehe!

jaybiss
3rd July 2006, 15:05
true damo but we are not on about the world cup

most challengesat the world cup, youd get away with in england

saxoash - and? thats whats good abput the game

you wouldnt be moaning if it was the other way

for me personally, id rather go to a game with an atmospheare (sp) as the bad decisions etc start the crowd off

DevilDamo

Pardon mate? What is this thread about then? Ronaldo's antics on Saturday. Ronaldo plays for Potugal. Portugal played England in the World Cup. It's all related

jaybiss

no damo

fifa, fa etc have been debating about tv replays/ video evidence for years

hence not only the world cup

Robb
3rd July 2006, 15:11
I agree I don't think that 3rd eye should be bought in as it would probably ruin the flow of the game, but I think when refs are reffing big games they should take their time or at least think it through propaly with their decisions when there's so much depending on them...

In my opinion poor refereing all round cost us the game, I think Rooney should have been booked for the stamp and that they shouldn't of missed that blatent hand ball, but obviously thats what I'm going to think being an England fan...

DevilDamo
3rd July 2006, 15:12
Ohhh I know what you mean now mate. I mentioned the 16 yellow cards as a follow on from your statement about "disrupting the flow of the game" but then issuing 16 yellow cards in one match does "disrupt the flow of the game."

I wasn't talking about TV replays, etc...

jaybiss

booked for the stamp and then booked for the push?

two bookable offencesz in my eyes

The ref wasnt going to book for the stamp he was telling roony to walk away and then ronaldo jumped in

Robb
3rd July 2006, 15:17
Hmm I duno really, I just think that overall it was a bit of a rash decision...

As its been said that he wasn't going to book him untill Ronaldo encouraged him? Only saw it the once maybe twice, as I was too gutted to watch the replays at the end of the game.....

jaybiss
3rd July 2006, 15:21
The ref wasnt going to book for the stamp he was telling roony to walk away and then ronaldo jumped in

i was relating to g rides comment where he said a yellow for the stamp

i know the ref wasnt going to book him, hence the in my eyes bit (wasnt really clear sorry)

but then if you went to the video evidence thing ash, wuldnt they tell the ref rooneys stamped on him, send him off

i know people will say he wasnt looking or anything but ronney does know hes there

rooney was fouled in the scuffle leading upto the stamp but if you look at his history where he doesnt get fouls he deserves, he goes off on one with the hard challenges etc

in my eyes it was deliberate, everyones views will be different etc so dont all jump on me :P

and yes i am english and did watch the game :(

at least we can all have a constuctive arguement with out someone going off on one calling each other cunts etc :P

saxoash
3rd July 2006, 15:27
lol i agree but it either way it should only have been a yellow, and it didnt realy affect our game, we still held them off and still had more attacking play than them with only 10 men, one thing we know about england and thats that they cannot take penalties lol

Robb
3rd July 2006, 15:35
Lol true...

I do think it was probably deliberate looking back on it, but the ref wasn't to know that either way which is why I reckon he should of thought about it a bit more...

And thats England for you, decisions always go against us...
Goals disallowed, sendings off, poor decisions allround, lol... in 98, 02, 04 (i think) and now 06 and probably 08...

Rooney may have a temper but that proves he has passion about what he loves doing..., No matter what any players say about ronaldo he will still get a hard time at man u and all over the premiership. I really dont care anymore because with England its always someone elses fault :P, when ive had a good beer ill join in but ive got my sensible head on.. there no denying the fact england dont win on penalties.

Its more than a football game. Its one of the biggest competitions in the world. The thousands of fans that went to germany to see our team play it does need discussion. As a moderater you should have better attitude.
