View Full Version : Important! : Rear reflectors?

I got some rear smoked jewels
and they were delivered with reflectors and sticky pads separate.

I can't take the light apart to the extent that I can insert the reflectors inside the light fitting in the designated space...

so my only other option is to stick them on, which is crap :n:

has anyone else got smoked jewels that has or had the same issue
and how was it resolved?

I'm pretty sure if you don't have any rear reflectors it's illegal so I need it sorted asap?

If anyone's got photos of theres, that would be helpful too

Thanks x

its just that because my car is black i dont want to be nicked because im not visible enough to other road users from the rear, because thats what they would probably say

same as steve said, my car came with some smoked rear lights and no reflectors, the guy i bought it off said that the lights came with stick on ones but he never bothered cause they look gash, and i had them on my car about 10 months before i put standards back on, i didnt get pulled once and passed the last MOT so should be fine :)

EDIT: do you by any chance have a relative called Oliver Forbes?

did you put the standards back on to pass the MOT or did you keep the smoked ones on?

Nope, I don't have a relative named Oliver, in fact I've never met anyone with the same surname haha, its a scottish name

I need a few more peoples opinion on this...
my dad was moaning at me to put them on, he said if im parked on a road and its night and nobody sees me car because there's no reflectors there will be an accident.

there is some truth in that...

i cant put the reflectors inside the lights, they came separate with double sided tape.

i dont wanna stick them on the car because it looks pants and i dont want the standard ones back on either :(

Legally you would have to fit them. However most MOT stations really are not bothered and would never pick up on it. Also most police would never notice as when driving at night you have your lights on and so the reflectors are not easily noticeable. But legally speaking yes you must fit the reflectors.

if ur worried u could put them right on the very bottom of the rear bumper, annoying and not overly stylish but legal and legit all the same.

i had a set on my rear mud flaps for a while when i had my tinted lights on the car x

i have had smoked jewels on my car since january and never had a problem. they are perfectly legit and are reflective anyway so dont see why you'd need stick on reflectors?
its only if theyre fully tinted you'd need the reflectors? correct me if im wrong :S

i didnt tint my originals, i bought smoked jewels from ebay, i shined a torch on them and realised they don't reflect back, they don't have reflectors inside the light. which is probably why they sent me stick on reflectors when i bought them.

honestly mate i really wouldnt worry about them. should anyone ever say anything just plead total ignorance explaining the company u bought them from assured u they were legal. the chances of actualy getting more then a slap on the wrist for them by the police is very very slim. the most ive ever heard of is them telling u, u need to add reflectors.
