You can get like a ribbed tubing with a split down it to put them in.

nicest thing to do is pvc sleeve it all. but this would require it all to be reconnected. so a long job.

Can get some heatshrink stuff, or you can get some cloth loom tape which seems to give a nice finish.

pvc sleeving is the best stuff, it has the same type of finish to it as heatshrink. but as it does not shrink it doesn't look bad when it shrinks around wires. leaving a smooth finish to the loom. just google it

i think he's using muilty core cable on myn straight into the fuse box well new fuse box on dash, plan was to just tidy and trim normal loom but turned into a "i will just re wire the whole thing" and got out his snips, so will up load pics when its done monday.

Not quite, I use heatshrink. My supplier is www.polevolt.co.uk

It's not ideal for tidying interior looms though, as it often won't fit over connectors. Convoluted tube or fibre mesh are much easier for that. I don't like the fibre mesh for engine bays, because if it gets oil in it, it's impossible to clean and it doesn't support the wires very well.

neva got round to commenting back on here.

we was in a rust so its not been do exaclty how we plenned still looks dam tidy though,

basicali... we cut the wire an inch from there plugs, using some muilty core cable, stipped it back a little, solder joins then heat skrin over each joint then a larger pice over the muilti core cable to the plug. ideali we would of bought the pins and just done await with the joins but was in a rush... anyways this what my loom likes like.

still needs tidying up and clipping down properly as onli had shit clips on us at the time.

Is it not rather heavy using multicore cable?

mark1311
18th August 2011, 17:33
Is it not rather heavy using multicore cable?

not reali, there 7/8 wire per light? so what eva you do always will have too be that amount of single cables coming out each cable then has its coating, then you have (like standard look wires all over, then need plastick sleeving or taping and tht looks gash rather then just one cable with its own coating?

its some auto motive stuff, were sponsered by GR Millwards so they gave us best stuff for the job and sent that.

But the outer sleeve, is the heavy part. It will weight more than the singles.

But wouldnt be too noticeable.

I think if you're worried about the weight of the cable protection you must be the next Lewis Hamilton - could just wear no socks in your shoes to counter the additional weight ;)

it might be dude, get to a point where it looks way more professinal though to have 2 single cables running though a car then 10/20 cables running though it. the weight differance between this and single cable must be at most 50/100grams? i weighed the wire when started and it was like 2kg or somet,.. but did snip a few grams off end:P

agreed russ get to point where the weight stuff gets silly, key if shave everything off, no pants and DEFO make sure u takee a piss and shit first thats gota be a kg?;)
