I bought my VTR last year that had been lowered 60mm all round but just tryed to get it MOT'd and they just straight up failed it. Apparently the absolute c**ts that did it just cut chunks out of the chassis to fit the wheels in. So now it's sorn and i've gotta spend great amounts of time and effort welding it all back together and re-lowering in affect. They also only left my about 20mm off the bump stops at the back! Anybody got there's lowered 60mm, if so, any good parts of tips for it or is 40mm just a better option?
Cheers
Pete
Thats weird, what size wheels you got on it? I had my GTi lowered 110mm at the back and 60mm at the front, and it passed no problem with 16" alloys on 45 profiles.

mines lowered 75mm front, 85mm back on 15's, passed fine. Aslong as the car isnt sitting on the chassis/bumpstops, or the springs arent loose/rusted/ cut, and the wheels arent rubbing then i cant see why they would fail it.
yours has probably just been molested by some muppet. get some pics up so we can tell you whats wrong

This sounds bizzare... I can only assume the springs have been cut or it has ridiculous sized wheels? OR the MOT place are being dodgy, might be worth getting a second opinion?

As long as the suspension has travel and the the road springs on the front arnt broken and the wheels dont protrude past the archers or hit when pressed on your fine.

wait, so if its not rubbing, and parts of the rear bumper is missing above the wheel whats the problem?
Bit of a bodge i guess but should still pass, might just be purely becuase its lowered and MOT bays don't like it?

Cheers for all the replys guys, I'll get some pics up soon but it's not at mine so I'll do it when i get chance. The guy doing the MOT's friend so he's not going to fail it if he didn't have to and i wouldn't expect him to put it through if it was a failure. But i'll get the pics up so you guys can see exactly what im talking about.
