The aluminium thermostat housing on the side the engine block is cracked and has a leak close to where the bleed screw is. Is there a guide on here to change it, there is a load of 10mm bolts which I thought was holding it on but it doesn't seem to budge even though I have taken them off.. Is there something else securing it maybe at the back of the block or has all the crystaline deposits locked it in place? There is nothing in the saxo haynes manual about this. It is on my mates 2002 1.1 Saxo.

Any help appreciated.

Will just be stuck, give it a gentle tap to loosen deposits. You might ned to knock up a gasket yourself when refitting it. Lay the gasket paper over the mating surface and gently tap it with a ball pein hammer and it will cut it out perfectly. You may also be able to repair the housing with some chemical metal if you cant locate a spare anywhere.

Good luck with it
