View Full Version : Rear de-mister not working - Not the fuse?

Hey,
Just a small but really annoying problem. The back windscreen heater doesn't work at all - the dash button doesn't even illuminate. I don't think it's the fuse as I was under the impression that it's the same fuse that the horn uses, and that's working fine (correct me if I'm wrong though). Any ideas?
Also, the fan blower works fine and the car hasn't got PAS, so it's not that problem of all of them not working. It's just the de-mister.
Thanks!

check the connections to the back window and the switch itself, switch just pulls out

Augh, I just swapped the hazard switch with the de-mister switch and the button light stayed on when turned on, like it should. But I turned the blower up the same time as the de-mister was turned on using the hazard switch, and blew a fuse. The dash lights don't work anymore, so time to change a fuse!
So what does this mean? Could it be a faulty switch in the dash? I still don't think the de-misters worked, but I didn't give them enough time...

Right, update! It was two things.
The de-mister wire to the back window wasn't plugged in properly, AND the wires weren't plugged into the dash switch properly. All in all, it works.
The only problem is that the de-mister button doesn't illuminate, whether it's on or off. Guessing I just need a new switch from a scrappy or something. At least it works though!
Cheers guys, problem solved :)

if it works, then you just need a new bulb in there

By the looks of it yeah! I got my hands on a new switch before I went to work this morning. I'll fit it later, will let you know :)
