I think Manchester is classed as a high risk area with insurance companies.
Over 8 grand though? Even 3 grand is a ridiculous price to pay.
Looks like you need to buy a small engined car for a few years and build up some more no claims.

Insurance nowadays is just frightening.
I'm 34 now, but even when I was younger (21) I managed to insure a Peugeot 306GTi6 fully comp for under £800

should i wait 3 months until im 20? will that make a difference?
Quick

Unlikely.
I'd start looking for a lower group car, with extra security.

Do you have any points/accidents? Surely just the fact you live in Manchester wouldn't mean the price was so expensive.

You should ask what factors are making the quote so high.

have you called a human being instead of looking at your computer?

get some people down as named drivers on your car will lower it abit mine went down £400 sticking my dad as a named driver even though he never drives the thing
also adrian flux are not very good atm as they wanted £3k for my arosa standard with no mods and elephant wanted £2k with alloys and lowered suspension declared and with mods on adrian flux they wanted near £3800
so much for being a good company for young modified drivers
i would look around for a good car in low insurance group my arosa is a 1.7sdi but its in insurance group 3 but i can get insured on a 306 1.9dturbo for £30 less a month and thats in 6
just look around and see what other people in your area drive and go from there or just ask an insurance company what they would suggest driving lol

Must be the stats for one (or more) of your circumstances have caused the premium to increase
If you haven't changed any of your circumstances since last year and you haven't made a mistake on the quotes then the ONLY explanation is that one of your circumstances has caused the price to increase because of statistics.
Area/Postcode - Massive increase in theft claims maybe?
Occupation - Increase in claims for your job type maybe?
Car - Increase in claims for that Model/Make of car maybe?
