i think you're safe with around 35mm but any more like 50 or so and you're asking for problems. i think its inevitable that you'll need new shocks eventually but this may be around a year or more depending on how old your car is

when lowering torsion bars how do u know how far the bar has moved?

You have to measure the drop when when you twist the arm upwards on the spline. I watched my friend (who is a mechanic) do mine and apart from a siezed torsion bar it wasn't complicated

its very easy to do but like he said little thinkgs like torsion bars being seized and bolts rounding off are the hardest part of it!!

haha he hasn't yet. long story! you have a few options to unseize it, loads of wd40 and rust remover then take the washers off on both sides of each bar and whack them out from behind with an extension bar and hammer. or wind an m8 bolt with two nuts on it into the bar which will pull it out (although careful not to snap the bolt inside the bar). or heat the area around each bar to expand the metal until it frees itself, then pull it out with a slidehammer. :)

lower the back the same as the front

would you advise not to lower the rear more than the front then?

I'm going 40mm on the front on eibach springs and 50mm on the rear I think -or is this not advised?

Thanks

People do lower it 40mm front and 40mm back. But the back can't really be given a measurement. Just lower it to suit. I'm sure you wouldn't be happy driving around in a car that's lower on the front than the back.

If you lower the rear, more than the front your welcoming oversteer, just thought i'd mention that! there was some logic in citroen making the rear slightly higher than the front!
