View Full Version : Trying to insure a dc5 integra at 20

Thought seriously about getting an integra dc5 due to finding one very cheap, but nobody will insure me because i'm 20 years old, 21 in november though, everyone seems to go with sky insurance or adrian flux but they both told me i will need to be 25 before they could insure me? Anyone know anybody of a similar age who has one or knows who will insure one? Cheers.

You can do anything for the right amount, but I would imagine it to cost something like 5k!?

Nah not quite that, 1-2k

It would be nice to actually get a quote though, been trying for days and getting absolutely nowhere.

I know with the old insurance groups they were the highest possible. You're bound to struggle.

My mate pays £2500 for a JDM DC2 so I assume it would a little more than that.

insurance works in very odd ways imo, i called this week to transfer to an import mx5 1.6 (not quick cars) keeping in mind my current car on the policy is triple the power it was £250 more to insure the mx5! Doesn't make sense does it?
Last year, my insurance was 1k on an r32 gtr skyline, this year with the same company its 7k. Figure that one! Insurance is unfortunately rising making it more and more difficult for the younger mortorist

Honda's are the most overpriced cars in the world.
second to 106's of course.

When i wanted to finsh my policy with flux, i paid just under 3k for my gti180, all mods declared, when i cancelled it the policy went upto £4400, and they only give you 10% back, so i only had like 440 towards insuring the a3, bastards.

I honestly dont think you will be able to get insured for under 4k!
even in the nicest area/garaged etc etc

It's a crap company but try first central insurance.. Chances are theyll insure you, just make sure you read the small print before taking the policy

As said before for the right price its possible. Unfortunately imports, especially Jap are no go areas for UK insurers

Simple, wait untill your old enough and have enough experience driving then get insured on a car like that.

An FWD car with about 200bhp? hardley enough of a monster to warrent the level of insurance these things seem to carry.
im 21 paying way less than 1k on a 2.8 RWD drift wagon...

VX220 FTW!
But in that case, it's strange must be because of import

Have to agree with this, its actually a 2.2 turbo the one i'm looking at, doubt i could insure a dc5 for £1500 a year, but i can a vx220 which would probably be just as fun ? Hmm.. think the integra will be out the window.

Just as fun?
A vx220t would be loads more fun, but you wont be as comfy or have as many gismos etc

Haha I can insure a 2009 LAMBORGHIN MURCIELAGO LP640 for just over 4k by the look of it
Some people pay more than that to insure a 1.1 saxo!

You WILL struggle due to the fact the car is an import.
Try NFU when you hit 21 I'm with them and have been driving imports for a good few years now no hassle, think my first was when I was 19/20.

Being an import always makes it far more expensive I find.
Wanted to buy an EK9 at 20 years old but the quotes were ridiculous. So instead I got a UK spec Accord Type R which cost about half as much to insure at the time.

For the DC5 try Sky Insurance, they insure it as a 1.8 Integra or something? But issue a cover note acknoledging they know its a 2.0? Cant remember now but theyre best bet for DC5s.
Personally id just wait till you are 21. I had to wait till I was 21 to insure the BMW. Same for the Teg being JDM.
