After years of being on this site and never owning a saxo, I have finally purchased one! What do you think for the price? Although ive got a long journey to get it...

Looks tidy, nice one, although why are there gaps underneath the headlights?

Who knows? I only need a cheap little runaround so it seemed ideal, if its a heap of shit then ooh well! Obviously I still haven't paid/collected it yet..

Bargain for the price. Looking good.
Also to post above, i think he's changed them headlight trims to a diff colour. Doesn't look like a gap.
Edit: too slow :D

Cheers guys, i dunno how much saxos are worth.. As i said its only a cheap runaround for a couple of months.. Potential profit when I sell it on? I thought the 67k miles was reasonable too!

If it's all in good shape, and runs well. a two tone should be worth at least £1k, maybe £1.2k
minor overhall on parts - service, linkages, bushes etc (if they need doing) and you should easily make £1k selling on.

So what areas of the car should i take a close look at? I know it's exhaust is blowing, but that's only minor... Is it fine to drive 3 hours home with a blowing exhaust? I only know about motorbikes!

looks like black trims, either been in a front ender or the originals were broken or nicked by someone to replace broken ones. ive got a set of silver ones in the garage going cheap ;)

you could make money on it but at the going rate of saxo's these days its unlikely! Just be glad you got a nice runner though by the looks of it

very brave for not looking at a car before buying. as said, could be a potential bargain or a potential shed. why do you think it has the black trims? think its had some sort of accident?
rick_VTR
17th August 2011, 18:44
what a shed.

As I said previously, main points to check for when I get there?
Cheers guys

all the arches for rust, get your head right in there
crumped boot floor
panels that dont quite line up
pop bonnet and look under ecu tray and fuse box for rust
if he takes you out, see if he boots it straight away or lets it warm up
see how dark the engine oil is, ask when it was last serviced

make sure its cold when you get there, turn it on when you start looking around it and let it get up to temp to ensure the fan comes on and it doesnt overheat.
pull the carpet away from the sides in the boot (its glued on) to check for rust.
make sure it goes into first and reverse easily
check underneath for any cv grease on or around the driveshafts
get it jacked up at the rear and make sure theres no play at all in the rear wheels. if he wont let you jak it up then tell him to jog on and leave

as said most costly problems is the rear beam having play in it. more likely to happen with cars lowered using the wrong method tbh
and the rust in the rear arches/boot floor & under ecu/fuse box
also check and ask about any interior leaks as they can be annoying.

Looks like a nice little runaround tbh but check it over when you have a look at it

The drivers side wing is a different shade from the rest of the car likely been in a bump but for 450 its cheap
