I'll soon be selling the Fiesta ST and be looking for a new car, and due to the market being HUGE I was wondering what are my options and what do you guys think is best...

The requirements:
• has to be 4door (this isn't debatable)
• has to be fast (sub 7seconds)
• has to be low(ish) miles
• has to be reasonable to insure :p
• diesel or petrol
• priced no more than £3,000

No-one does 0-60 on a road nor track but it's just a way of saying something a little faster as people won't want me to bore them with figure lol.

Accord Type R is a very good shout tbh.

Saab 9000 Carlsson also?, still fast by today's standards and would be an awesome sleeper imo, also has the benefit of being a proper SAAB not GM.

Don't bother with the 9-3 aero's as someone mentioned earlier in the thread, suspension issues along with Cracked bulkheads, very common on them.

3k is a decent budget so have a good look round.

Yes as it has proper McPherson struts all round so its also a much better platform to develop from, and the 160 came with gas dampers and different bound rebound springs to poverty spec ones

Check out racing and think you will find that MGZR actually has a good standing in standard guise as opposed to the Saxo which lets be honest has sweet fuck all, even the Maxi 1600 was out classed by a fucking Skoda!!

I quite often slate saxo's and tbh arguing that an mg zr (rover 200) is better than a saxo is like arguing that one form of cancer is better than another they're both shit to have!
however, in my experience of the cars i've owned (mainly jap and french with an embarrassing exception to some terrible rover 200 i had the displeasure of owning for a short amount of time) the best engine I have come across is the saxo vts engine. I doubled the standard power, track used it, abused it and it never once in 4 years let me down. May I add that no uprated/stronger parts were needed to be fitted to the engine to achieve this.

I HAVE owned a vts and I HAVE owned a rover 200 which is an mg zr without the bodykit and I can hand on my heart say if I had to have either again it would be the vts without a doubt.

Never ever ever ever ever heard of a vanos problem on a 3.0 which are the only m3's you can buy for less than 3k.

Cheapest evo ive seen was 3.5k and even so the vanos may growl but complete failure is very rare.

If I went on holiday to Monaco, I would talk about my experience there, what its like. I wouldnt be saying it cost me this much, I stayed in a hotel costing this much.

When I moved to spain and worked for Mercedes on an apprenticeship with the opportunity to go and study in Barcelona, I dont tell people how much it cost me I tell people how it was a great experience. Which leads me onto different people wanting different things, as you know as you have said. I see life as too short to live in one place ALL my life and work for one company all my life and have a career.

Why do people push a career so much, yeh you earn more when you are at the top than the bottom. But you can make just as much money doing stuff that isnt a career job. I want to explore the world, get experience in differnt sectors and areas, learn shit. I dont want to be stuck in one place all my life for the sake of a career. Being stuck in one tiny place compared to the whole world isnt for me. Only get one life. Exagerate it. Live on the same street all your life and stay within you city, even for holidays and stuff or move around the world, gain experience of different jobs, communitys people, lifestyles etc! that means more to me than being able to say im in a career job earning so n so much.

I see life as too short to live in one place ALL my life and work for one company all my life and have a career.

Why do people push a career so much, yeh you earn more when you are at the top than the bottom. But you can make just as much money doing stuff that isnt a career job. I want to explore the world, get experience in differnt sectors and areas, learn shit. I dont want to be stuck in one place all my life for the sake of a career. Being stuck in one tiny place compared to the whole world isnt for me. Only get one life. Exagerate it. Live on the same street all your life and stay within you city, even for holidays and stuff or move around the world, gain experience of different jobs, communitys people, lifestyles etc! that means more to me than being able to say im in a career job earning so n so much.

Thats my opinion.

i agree, to an extent, but pushing career is important in my eyes, we're going way off topic here but passing a boarding, or going up a pay bracket is such a good feeling, to know you've worked for it and you can stand around looking at everything you own and know its yours, its that sense - as for living life, i cant agree more, spending everyday with my girlfriend and my friends and to go out every weekend, but its nice to know you're working towards something in your life, and not just a dead end job

dont get me wrong, i'd never chase the money to the point where i was doing something i hated in order to earn a lot more, job satisfaction is important too, its all about that ballance

Bora's are nice I will admit. The only problem I have with them is that the little engined ones (under 2litre) are rubbish and very boring...but the faster models are stupid expensive to maintain as my mate had a 2.8 and always had problems!

So Gibbo talks about his beemer alot and why not if he likes then fair enough. Like most people talk about their cars alot but there's no need to keep mentioning it. The reason most of us are on this website is because we all like modified cars and from what I have read Gibbo's car is modified to quite a high standard so why do you not appreciate the work he has put into it?

Saying his car is old and shit is abit stupid. So if I buy an old sierra cosworth, because its old therefore it is worthless. I'm afraid not.

also you're not considering everything, if you but an old sierra cosworth then yes its worth a lot, but if i bought an old fiesta classic then no, its worth nothing - the same rule doesn't apply to all cars, that was my point
