apart from postcode/area/engine size....what are the others that greatly influence the price?

so far for me...adding a second driver and changing to TPFT has decreased my price a lot.

Things that influence the price:

Age
NCB
Amount of time licence held
Convictions (points on your licence)
Claims
Additional drivers (older the better usually)
Postcode
Occupation
Engine Size
Insurance group of the car
Modifications on the car
Several statistics (amount of claims on a particular car/age group/sex etc)

Those are off the top of my head, there are probably loads more

This is the reason you can't compare one persons quote to another, unless you have identical information of ALL the bits above

Excess
Wether you are paying in full or installments

'in locked garage'

should be

'i have too much money, rape me'

in my experience anyway. But yeahh, your job and who you have on your policy + excess. thats what works for me anyhow.

its cheaper to put its on the street rather than on your drive, because aparently it makes theives unsure which the house the car belongs to so they dont know which house to break in for the keys lol true story.

It's common sense mate, 90% of the questions they ask you when you do a quote are going to affect the price.

Plus I already have a good job, unless your a manager then insurance doesn't exactly pay well :)

time of month

like any sales, people are rushing at the end of the month to make their targets so you will get better deals at the end of the month.

You just need to figure out what they call the end of the month though - i'd say last friday generally.

if you went from unemployed to employed itll probally go up, as theyll see you using the car more, and add commuting onto the policy!

Fullcomp is cheaper for me too.

john ay you are emplyed. If you pay monthly it will bring it down. They wont add commuting to your policy as you walk to work as its 100 yards down the road isnt it...

tell you what i find ridiculous, where i park at work i can see my car its parked right next to where i work in work, its on other side of a big shutter i work on the inside but all day through work the shutter is open so my car is litterallly a few feet away from the hours of 7am until 6pm and is in a locked car park round the back of the warehouse and insurance companies still charge me 7million pounds.

those silly b/stards who stage fake crashes and fake compo claims made my premium shoot up by 150% this year, was told by insurance company the avg is 40%. i had a 1.6 zafira was paying 26 a mth then they wanted 68 a mth told em to screw it, so i sold it and brought a 1.1 saxo now im getting charged 52 a mth

bloody rip off tbh

i went with a company called allen and allen for my first year, they gave me 1 yrs no claims as i had done pass plus, then from there on i've been with swiftcover, i'm car hunting at the moment and for a 1900 206 diesel got a quote of £30 a month, so it might just be down to the type of car also, the guy that bought my saxo is paying £70 a month with 8 yrs no claims for fully comp!

I have a mate, their family have this whole process,

Dad - Insurance with Oldest Son as Second Driver
Oldest Son - Insurance with less than a thousand miles per year, youngest son as second driver

Do not ask me how they do it, they manage it somehow, works out cheaper for everyone, his youngest son has a 1.4 Astra for 900, 17 Y/O, FC with NCB, in the North of Ireland that is ridiculously cheap.
