Looks a nice clean base mate, them white rallye steels will look sweet as once lowered, I'd recommend smoking the front headlights, makes the front end look loads better also i think black badges look best on the rear but its your car :) as said look through progress threads for ideas too :y:
Steelies
28th August 2011, 20:33
Thanks, much appreciated. Have thought of smoking the front lights but not sure yet. And as for lowering, it will be done however not sure how low, all depends on how the wheels sit.

Should look pretty sick lowered on them rallye steels man!
Steelies
29th August 2011, 07:29
Ordered the matching paint (aerosol) from eBay. Only about £7. And thanks mate, hopefully it will. Oh and just wandering but did you have to mess with the rear flat-arch to lower your Saxo on the VTR's?
m11ler
29th August 2011, 17:07
Yeah when i took it to krisb, he rolled and pulled the arches for me. All depends on your tyre size, i have 185's.
Steelies
29th August 2011, 19:05
Oh ok thanks mate. My tyres will also be 185's, well 185/50/14's most likely. Don't really plan on getting the arches rolled, will just lower it as much as i can, will probably be alrite with lowering it 20-30mm. It's not that low but with the wheels, it should look pretty good.

30th August 2011, 08:54

What you lowering it by?
Steelies
30th August 2011, 17:20
Not too sure yet mate, all depends on how the wheels sit, possibley about 30mm. Doubt i will be able to go any lower.
m11ler
30th August 2011, 17:28
Nooo, go lower than 30mm. You want about 50mm on a flatarch mate. And even then, theres some wheel arch gap.
Steelies
30th August 2011, 17:35
Ok, we'll see, not sure how far out the wheels sit yet though.
Packham
30th August 2011, 17:52
50mm all round is usually spot on for flatarches :y:

The wiper arms are partly done now, a re-spray in black as they were chipped and scratched. Hopefully might start on the rocker cover soon too. Due to a lack of the ole' pennies I am still saving for tyres so my Rallye Steels are stacked in the corner of my room..... still!
Steelies
7th September 2011, 11:32
This is probably a silly question but when you remove the rear wiper, do you need to put anything on the screen so that the rain runs off? If so, where can I buy it from and for roughly how much? Thanks.

You can put rain- x on the rear window, after you've dewipered to keep the rain off.
Thought about smoked headlights, jeweled rears?
Steelies

Thanks, need to get some of that Rain-X soon. And yes have thought about that, think I'll get it lowered and that lot first, still saving for tyres.

Took a long while cleaning the car today..
.1, Washed the car with clean 'warmish' water.
.2, Washed the car with warm water and two 'cap fulls' of AutoGlym car shampoo/cond.
.3, Washed the above off with more 'warmish' water.
.4, Cleaned the windows inside and out with the AutoGlym glass cleaner.
.5, Then used the clay bar kit on my car for the first time, was impressed with the results.
.6. Finished off by polishing the car with AutoGlym super resin polish.
Overall was really impressed with the look of the car, it gave off a real shine and really clear reflections. (pic .2 uploaded below is a good example).
Comments and opinions welcome.

You should do mate, they suit the Saxo so well, and the dish is reasonable for a 6J wheel in fairness. If you do order them, try and get the S2's as the S1's are only 5.5J, so not as wide.. Awesome news mate, will take a look at your thread now.

It was nearly a year ago now, so can't remember off of the top of my head, think if you wanted them from a dealership you would have to go to Peugeot as they are from a 106 Rallye standard.

Honestly, yes on paint. Was really hard removing the number plate and re-building/smoothing the bumper etc, took about an hour in total.
Thank you, it does look quite nice in the photo, wouldn't mind it looking like that in reality.
Only went to look at the one, which was only a little 1.1 but looked very tidy, pretty mint condition as well. There were two 1.4 Furio C2's as well, they were pretty nice, not sure what the insurance would be on those though. Only a 17 year old.. :)

To be honest i would waste the money going to a 1.1 or 1.4 C2, i dont see any real advantage over them that the saxo but it is your choice, mayaswell just keep it until your 19-20 and get something decent its plenty of time to build up no claims and funds for a decent motor.

Had a knocking noise whilst turning (occasionally) over the past month or so, after some help and guidance on here, I have been told it is likely to be the driveshaft cv joints. In the comings days I hope to find out for sure what it is, if it is the cv joints then I shall be repairing my car along with my dad. Hopefully it will not be too costly.

5th July 2012, 21:22
On the driver-side rear panel, there has always been a small, but harsh ding/scratch, after a chat with my dad tonight, we have decided we are going to sort that out in the coming weeks/maybe month. At the same time, we are going to sort out a small patch of surface bubbling on the bootlid, just below the rear screen, and another small but deep scratch in the number plate recess. Also considering smoothing over the five holes left by the badges when they are off. We are then going to book the car in for a re-spray on these panels, can't wait. That has been the first proper update in ages.

Pretty sure you'll all be pleased to know that I am keeping the Saxo after considering going to a C2. Hopefully the progress on this should speed up a little now.
Steelies
8th July 2012, 08:17
Car is back to standard for the time being. Sadly my insurance will not allow any modifications this year so I am going to keep my car standard for a year or so and then consider changing insurers etc. Untill then I am going to try and sort out all of the small scratches/dings that others wouldn't notice, but because I know they are there, they annoy me. Apart from that, I will just be keeping the car as clean as can be, and making sure she is running sweet.
Not selling the steelies, they are currently sat in the garage, but hopefully they will be back on the car next year.
