yeah looks good fella! You're lucky black is the best colour for getting a really good shine, like a mirror.
Put your hand in your pockets and buy some Chemical Guys wet mirror finish, works wonders on black cars and lasts for ages, plus its a good all-round polish

thats the million dollar detailing question! Everyone has a preference of wax, I like dodo juice, but others dont.
You want to use a decent polish, then sealant and wax. For example, I use Chem Guys wet-mirror finish or Autoglym SRP. then seal its with some extra gloss protection, or similar, use a quick detailer and then Zaino polish to bring out the shine, then the wax as a final coat, and keep it topped up with a decent QD.
You can use the search as everyone has a different method that they like to use, based on different car colours. Detailingworld is a good website too if you're not on it. :)

nah clay bar is dead easy to use. Sonus do a good one on the CYC website. Use plenty of lube, I use Autoglym rapid detailer for lube as its about the cheapest, smells great and lasts ages.

yeah go for it, make sure you give it a good wash before and after. Use some tar remover of the panels too before a first wash, makes lifting heavy grime easier

do i haveto dry the car before i claybar it?
saxo_gray
26th August 2011, 00:30
its not essential. but the lube works better without any water, so i always tend to dry it first

always best IMO. water isnt a great lube, and you dont want it mixing with the lube you are going to use. Let me know how you get on :) Hopefully doing a full clay bar detail on my over the weekend if the weather holds

My brother keeps using my expensive stuff in the wrong way.
Poorboys white diamond glaze - using it like a polish (almost half a fucking bottle in one go)
Meguires liquid wax (from my newbie days before i discovered hard wax) As a polish again.
Dodo juice red mist as a degreaser.
I've even put aside a set of polishes, washes and waxes for him that are cheap and do the job. Does he listen? Does he fuck.
Cool story bro, not on topic blah blah blah but I needed to vent my anger.
Car looks good btw mate!!

Not a fan of the Auto-Shite stuff but all the rest looks good.
How do you rate those window cleaning things with the hand prints? Do they actually make it easier to clean the lower edge of the windscreen like they claim?

yep, especially love the Zaino stuff, and some really nice Eurow cloths and pads. Cleanyourcar is an amazung website for buying everything. Save yourself a small fortune. Also, autoglym at car shows it like 1/3 off the shops prices - hence I have a lot of it!

I did it last year, you'll make your money back quickly but my back stopped me.
I won't post all of my stuff on here, it's not as pretty lol I tend to put them into bigger containers etc and label them up. Buying in bulk from Cyc is much cheaper in the long run. some of the dilution ratios are like 1:20 so it lasts years.

Unless you're using a Rotary machine polisher you really won't fuck up. If something looks wrong just wipe it away and try again. (Or use fairy liquid to strip back to the paint layer)
The worst it'll do is leave a mark that can be wiped away lol.

yep, I use a good microfibre applicator, there are some sonus ones on CYC that are really good.
rub on and buff off straight away if by hand, otherwise its quite difficult to get off. pretty difficult to f*** it up.
works wonders on black cars!
im planning on using the wet mirror finish on sunday/monday, will post results from my posi blue :)

Wet mirror finish isn't polish.
saxo_gray
26th August 2011, 19:35
Wet mirror finish isn't polish.
wet mirror-finish is a sealant, to go on after a polish, but in many respects, you apply it in the same way. there's no waiting for curing at all, its just a nice top up to a decent polish, before applying a wax top coat
