happened across a maritius VTS the other day that has been dumped on private land for over two years.
the land owner has had to snap the steering lock in order to move the car and after calling both the police and the council who said they wont move it as its private land he just told me to take it lol.
surely "just taking it" is stealing, tried looking around the internet but there are a few mixed views.

From what i know after 2 weeks of being on anothers property they now own it and if the police and council know about it and dont exactly care about it i wouldnt worry about it so the land owner has just give u a car legaly
The car was Dumped and has been givin to a good home :)

If its been there that long and council/police are aware of it then i think you would be fine. If it was going to be reported stolen it owuld have been done by now.

Wouldnt put it back on the road! It's abit of a grey area you can apply for the log book but that doesn't mean you own the car! If someone was to come out of the wood work and prove by other means than the old log book they own it they can legally take it back from you regardless weather or not uv spent thousands on it!
Someone posted about it on here or 106owners once
So defo have it! But break it for parts tbh

Yea i'd break for parts bud.. Wouldnt go about putting it back on the road especially if like its been said someone pops up n says oh thats mine and has good proof you've just lost your vts you've spent alot of money getting roadworthy again...
On another note ill buy the engine, loom, etc etc anything i need for a 16v conversion if u want rid haha

its definately not 2 weeks. at the bike shop i work at, if a bike is left with us for 6 months, if we make reasonable effort to contact the owner and they dont pick it up it then becomes ours to dispose of

Take it apply for new log book, the previous keeper will be informed that someone is applying for the log book and will have a chance to stop it then. If you get log book its yours unless the previous keeper can prove that it is theirs (log book doesn't count), and unless they've still got reciept from when they bought it i don't see how they can prove that!

Thats not good enough to get the car. You need to apply to the DVLA for the previous owners details and make a reasonable effort in trying to track them down. We are in the same situation with an old Lotus.

go into your local plod
apply for a form(Carnt remeber name)
you fill it in saying you found it, no-one touched it for 5 weeks or whatever.
and if no-one applies/looks at your local plod for it. it will be given to you by the police.
Someone left a 125 bike out my old house for multiple weeks so i claimed and no-one applied for it being stolen, so police gave it to me with a reciept. applied for a v5 win.
not sure if its the same around your area though?

dont think thats the case in england
at a ferrari/maserati repair garage near me (down the road from ace cafe) a member of the royal family from saudi arabia has left the ONLY black maserati mc12 in the world in the back of there workshop collecting dust. been there over 2 years now since the dude went back home and never answered any phone calls/messages. the garage cant just claim this £1m abandoned car lol

there was a car abandoned in my friends car park space when they moved into a new flat. i contacted the police and the dvla who told me just to apply for the logbook and if the registered keeper didnt contest it that i was applying for it then id get sent a new one and could remove the car.
one of the neighbours overheard us talking about it and the car was gone within 2 days though :s

When did that happen? i thought the guy sold it. There were loads of little dickheads spamming his thread saying they knew someone who was getting out of prison and was going to get their car back but it was all rubbish
