Hi all, Just brought my vtr a few days ago everythings ok with it apart from the fact that there is a constant knocking coming from back end and its pretty loud. I have the idea it could be the torsion bar maybe?? Can't really see anything visible underneath tho.

Cheers.

its your back axel bud, are the wheels cambering in badly ? you will either need to recon ur axel depending on if the tubes gone or money etc, better off grabbing another axel mate !

The wheels don't really camber in much mate just the usual, How much would it be for mine to be recon do you recon? i know a complete rear axle is about £80 - £150.

i was quoted for a back axel around £150-£200 for everything , thats new hub bearings the lot.. all depends how much you want to spend...

I haven't bothered as mine doesn't knock it just cambers a bit more on one side than the other nothing noticable really... I'm going to wait and get a recon'd and lowered back axel if i can, cheaper and easier mate as its only a couple of bolts and its off... also the brake pipes but thats simple enough.

Could also be loose ARB, Or could be fucked axle. Jack the car up and try rock the wheels side to side and up and down. If there is play means bad axle or if the wheels camber. I had this my wheels would wobble at speeds and could feel it vibrating inside car.

Recon axle from IM axles is £360 and they will lower it included in price, thats a an uprated one too. Worth getting as getting a second hand axle is risky as it could have same fault or not last long. Plus you get warrenty.

Yer thats a good point, and i am thinking of having it lowered so would be an easier option. I've had the car up and shook the wheels and nothing iuts only when the car is on the ground and you shake the car you hear it pretty badly.

The oilite axle which is what i have bought from them. They use wider bushes than standard and IM axle own stub pins. And it has self greasing nipples so when the suspension lubricates itself and prevents stub pin to wear.

Is it a constant noise? or only at certain speed or on bumpy roads? squeeking or a thudding noise?

Other things it could be is if exhaust is hitting something underneath? Or spare wheel cage loose causing it to squek?

Its a constant noise like as if something metal is hanging from the bottom of the car.
