If someone said to you they could show where you will be in 10 years time, would you want to see it?

Asked this in work earlier, I said yes, everyone else said no

But if you worked hard now, and knew where you were gonna be in 10 years, maybe you would step of the gas a little bit.. No motivation innit.

NO - because knowing how my life would be in 10 years time would be based on the decisions I choose to make along the way.

If I knew what would happen in 10 years time I might be tempted to make different decisions along the way.

What I'm saying is it's like the butterfly effect, every decision no matter how small can affect you ultimately. So I'd prefer to just take each day as it comes and hope I'm making the right choices.

If you are going to be 6 foot under in 10 years time, wouldn't you want to know now so you can make the time valuable? As opposed to plodding on through life and it just happening

Great question. I'd say yes, could end up backfiring though, if you find something bad has happened it'll ruin the next 10 years...

But it wont show you how you died, so would drive you crazy i think.

But surely what happens in 10 years time is entirely variable.

eg. Summer holiday to Cyprus with the gf. There is a car crash on the m25 on the way to heathrow. Stuck in traffic. You miss the 13:25 to larnaca. The 13:25 goes down killing everyone on board.

There are way too many variables. I'm giving myself a headache and I realise I am explaining my theory really poorly.

Think I know what you're saying, does sound like a scene out of Final Destination though

I think yes - if it's bad, it's still what's gonna be there in ten years - if ten years time
Is ten years time, then you can't change that even if you want to.

Does this make any sense?

Hmm... I did watch that recently... Maybe its clouding my judgement.

But my mates mum told me she went to see this fortune teller, she was just about to buy a house, the fortune teller didn't know this, all she knew was her name. The FT said she shouldnt buy the house, they ignored her and pressed on with the purchase only then to discover the house was subsiding and they stood to lose a lot of money.

So she went back and she said tell me everything. The FT said that she will have another child, and that she will leave her husband.

She did both. But I wouldn't want to know shit like that. Everyday I'd be questioning myself. Like, if I didn't know what the future held would I still make the same decisions now? Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Don't think I would ... Spoilers :P

But if you saw where you are in 10 years, how do know that you'll end up being there.
What I'm trying to say is, with the knowledge of the outcome in 10 years, you could quite easily change your approach to life that takes you down and alternative path.
Back to the future style!

GREAT SCOTT !

I think I would in some cases, for example, if I saw my life was shit & I was unhappy, I would be able to do something about it now. :y:

maybe like, what ever you did you'd always end up in the same sitiation as you saw yourself 10 years from now, so if you saw yourself sad and unhappy you'd have no way to avoid it, that is whats going to happen

if not and you can change it, then seeing yourself in 10 years time really means nothing - because you could change it anyway, so if you were sad you could change it, and if you saw yourself rich and keeping it real in a penthouse in florida you could easily fuck that up and not end up being poor and homeless.... or something

OP, this leaves a lot open mate
