Hey! Got strange problem with my saxo vtr dashboard, dials, speedometer, fuel, temp and etc are dropping sometimes. Mostly of time it works fine, but pretty often it drops, car loosing power and the Air Bag light goes ON, then after few bumps on the road it goes back to the normal as it supposed to be.
Maybe someone had the same problem, so would like to get the solution.

Sorry for my bad english.. :|

Many thanks!

sounds like an earth as said, what do you mean by bumps on road.. youve probs got an earth strap about to snap or die, youll break down if it happens so fix it asap

Checked earth, looks fine, been trying to touch it and etc. everything's OK.
So probably the only thing left, leads/connections.?
My car knowledge not really good and don't know what connections is for dashboard :/
Could someone who's got saxo 1.6 vtr take a picture which is showing where's those connections.lol
Thank you!

If you`ve checked all the above etc,an outside chance would be your alternator check it`s charging rate. However as stated if your losing power over bumps it`s more than likely a loose battery, earth strap etc.

One more question, does battery light on dashboard supposed to appear after the first spin of ignition? I mean, there's "3 spins" 1st turns on my radio and etc (then battery light appears) 2nd is full ignition (all lights appears and etc) 3rd is engine start.
And another thing, one of alternator leads is a bit melted. The one which is under the manifold...

I was also going to suggest the alternator voltage regulator, but you say it happens over bumps.

Check Earth on the gearbox, connections on the alternator (aswell as bein away from the manifold) and connections on the starter motor as these are in the same circuit.

EDIT: just refreshed the page and you already posted after steve.Yeh check that alternator wire and possibly replace that section of wiring if it bad.

Hey, so history is still the same, but now this problem appears even more often.
Thing is, if im riding on idle it's fine, when I putting gear and trying to move it starts again, dashboard drops, even subwoofer loosing power.
Have done diagnostic, electrics is fine, no faults, the guy said it's manual problem, so checked all earths (cleaned, and etc.) all wires, looks fine..
Just couple days ago long lights gone.. Short lights working perfectly, but when im trying to turn on the long lights all lights stops working..
Another thing, battery gone.. Woke up today and couldn't start the car....
Totally don't know what's the problem with it.. Any else suggestions?
Thanks!

have u got a amp?
Yes.

Probably got sorted what's the problem. It's alternator... Headlights went off at all. Car doesn't start, not even trying to spin the starter, as battery is more than dead lol

Buying alternator and new battery on friday, will tell how's the things going..

Was the voltage regulator then in the alternator.
