Came back from a night out to find my rear windscreen all smashed. I live in the middle of nowhere and my car was parked on the drive. It wasnt smashed before i went out.

The smash is odd, its not like a brick or anything has hit the glass and cracks have come from an impact point, the whole windscreen is just cracked. Like something big has jumped on it and compressed it inwards. But if someone had surley my alarm wouldve gone off??

Secondly, how do i replace a rear windscreen? ill try and get one from a scrap yard or off here, however how do i remove and fit one??

need help urgently.

cheers

Probably be easier to get a complete tailgate tbh

If you want to keep the same bootlid then, source a rear screen, then use a heat gun and a blade to remove the broken remains. best to take the complete bootlid of, then use tiger seal to glue in the 2nd hand screen. best way to do it and cheaply. all you gota do is source the window. be carefull putting it in tho.

What about going through your insurance?Or is that to high?(not being sarcastic)your best bet is sourcing another tailgate in the same colour.Very easy to swap everything over.

unfortunately I am too far from you but I sell tailgates complete with glass for around £35 a screen fitter will charge you this minmum to fit as for removing it from one in the scrap yard I suspect they will want about £30 ish for one and they are a nightmare to remove they are bonded in and require cutting out
good luck as others have suggested it would be far easier to get a tailgate in the same colour and fit the whole thing

All tailgates are the same, the difference between mk1 and 2 maybe the wiring loom which you can take from yours and a VTR one may have a spoiler in the glass but they all fit each other

A paint sprayer friend said to me that the best way of cutting out a rear screen is with a cheese wire.
