As long as you have his details, police wont do a thing about it, you got his details thats all they will say, they wont look into it.

Try get him to pay outside of insurance as, even tho its not your fault your insurance may go up and if its in a car park, his insurance company might just say its private land your not covered for that or something like that

The police cought him around the area, but havent told me if he was drunk etc. Car is fucked though!

make sure he gives you the right details if you arent going through his insurance! The last thing you want is to find out he has given you a wrong address.

Cheers mate, because in theory it is my fault i might not get the compensation or anything. He was tail gaiting and over took after nearly hitting oncoming traffic and then slammed the brakes on 10ft infront of me after swerving infront. But the police have pretty much said it will be his fault, especially as he drove off

Like, i said earlier, hope all goes well with the repairs, but be careful if your not going through insurance companies as it makes it easier for him to give a false address... You could also shit him up by asking to see his MoT and logbook otherwise you will persue if further
