kent cam timing (vtr)

I'm going to be fitting a Kent pt40 on my 02 plate 98bhp vtr tomorrow, just wondering whether it should be timed up to standard timing or not as I'm using a standard pulley.

Also am i right in thinking the tappets should be set to 0.25 for the inlet and exhaust?
