My mam's laptop motherboard has just failed, looking to purchase a replacement laptop rather than repair.
I work in I.T - just wanted your guys input.
Been looking at a few, budget of about £400.
Used for internet, documents etc.
Thanks in advance
JAM.

If you go to pc world and choose a dell get one from dell them self's you get a better spec for the same money.
For that money I would go for a inspiron 15r there crammed full of features and look smart. And all memory is available cheap from most pc stockist's.

Ok, but you also said go ask in PC World / Currys proving very poor advice, because you can't fault something or hated something doesn't make it good/bad. I spend my life fixing shitty wank acer atheros network cards it's a well known fact they're terrible.

you need a macbook pro.
Seriously though, Ive had no problems with my Dell apart from the cooling duct getting full of fuzz and needing blasted out with air.

Stay away from Sony laptops. They will last about a month past the warranty and the parts will cost shit loads to replace.
