With those wheels it looks like it'd be a nice wee fast road project :D

Maybe -40mm, strip it out a bit and a couple of basic engine mods and you'll be chilllin' :P

I'm picking up a black VTR tomorrow, so excited!

Mines standard dude, well the boy before me put an exhaust and tints on it but the tints are coming off pronto! Not my taste ha, i'll put a thread up later on.

Havent updated project for a while done a few fings to the car now.
Changed the exhaust system brought the 4-1 piper manifold from fish6634.
Then brought centre section and magnex back box from VTR_Craig.
Got a new grill as i broke the old one. looks alot better grill got this from peters_VTR.
Then went back to craig and brought his bucket seats and harnesses. Fitted these today.
Also brought the strut brace from VTR_Craig.

Also coloured some interior panels in and coloured the team dynamics writing in red on the wheels. Fitted new rear caliper and o2 sensor and blanking socket.

Starting to pick up pace with the project now. Still on the list is:
1) lowering not sure on 35mm or 40mm!?
2) Need to heat wrap mani
3) Tow strap needed
4) Brakes will be upgraded not sure to go bigger or just stick better fluid and pads and dics yet!?

Prob more things to come just cant think at the moment!

First went on a track day at donnington on 4th december awesome day. cost £99 for full day was in the novice group because of first track day. car was brilliant no problems!:A:

After the track action i decided to get a few items sorted....

So after the track day was done i wanted to do some bits to the car..

The wheel was removed from under the rear of the car and put in the boot and a trs strap was put to secure it down. I brought a new pro race 1.2 gloss black wheel and same as the other four wheels put on a hancook tyre. I was surprised how the hancook tyre was around the track i thought it coped well.

I think it looks alot better as the spaire in the boot

I then wanted to change the standard door panels to either carbon fibre or plastic. I brought some plastic ones off here from benwh555 brilliant fit and quality. I set about putting them on the car i used rivets probably not everyones choice but i think they look ok.

Then i decided to get happy with the paint and paint the strut brace blue...not the best job but it will be ok for now

Also brought some twin fans again from a member on here DusheR. Didnt take any pics before but they needed painting up. Wired them both to run together when the fan comes on

Then after a long while of waiting to get the car lowered i finally brought some spax 40mm springs. I was trying to find someone to lower the rear torson beam on my car i found jason from ilkeston autocare rang him and got it booked in.

Took the car to mandyslover70. Got their proper bloke had a chat bout stuff. He then jacked the car up before i left it with them but found the o/s/r bearings were knackered. Great start. left it with jason to see how bad it had got.

Had a phone call later on to say the rear beam was knackered on the stub axle. GREAT!!! :wall:Luckily he had a spare sat around doing nothing so after waiting for the bearings to come and couple days later picked up the car. It had a second hand rear axle and new bearings and lowered about 45mm-50mm and was spot on!

Picked the car up and was brilliant. Front lowered on 40mm spax springs and rear lowered about 45mm-50mm.

Very happy with the car now. Future plans (in time tho)

I know the car is dirty and needs a proper clean. Will get some pics up when its all cleaned!

-Rebuild a 8v engine
-Find a xsi or rallye box maybe get a diff
-Hopefully get a turbo kit
-Either a carbon bonnet and boot or fiberglass

Yeh springs are good done couple hundred miles since fitted and not alot harder but the front seems more stable than before. Yeh using standard dampers see how i go with them maybe upgrade them in the future

Head started to leak oil the other night badly from above the alternator and on the side of the head into the cambelt cover! :wall:

Stripped the head down and sent away for skim. Used Manx engines in derby to skim the head was quality job so far hopefully it will be all back running later.

So changed head gasket, had the head skimmed, new cambelt again after only a couple of thousand miles, new water pump, new cam oil seal, took sump off and re-sealed that. All this is being down due to going nurburgring 2 weeks today!! :fcuk:

So i got back from nurburgring monday night. I went over saturday tea time and got to nurburg about 9.00am. Drove round the track on sunday i did six laps in the end, i didnt think was bad considered it was my first visit.

From home to nurburgring and back home did just over 1190 miles. Car ran brilliantly no problems. Was very surprised because 2 weeks before then car was stripped down with the head off it.:fcuk:

Went with a couple of mates there was me in my saxo, my mate in his s2000 who did 8 laps and his mate in his serra cosi who only managed to do 2 laps and ended up sliding off into the barrier and smashing the front end of it up.:wall:

So went on another track day at Donny on 20th July. Was open pit lane evening session. First time id bin on a open pitlane but was brilliant. Mostly stayed out for half hour or 45 mins then came back in pits to rest car for abit. No problems with the car and was fist time out with new solid discs and mintex pads instead of drilled and groved and yellow stuff. The solid discs and mintex pads 1144's were alot better than the originals.

Was a good day alot of different cars out on track.
Iam currently runing road tyres of hankook ventus but looking at buying some more capible track tyres as you could feel these starting to overheat on longer runs. Anyone got any ideas of better tyres? Have been told R888's or A048s are a good choice?

how did you find it compared to other cars on track? quicker round the corners?

Yeh ryan was quicker round the corners but loosing out down the straights past 80. Need to sort better shocks n tyres but with the shocks standard u can feal it move around more n tyres get too hot after a while n u notice it understeering more.

U need come on track day now with urs mate. U gt any track days sorted yet?

Right so i sold the vtr a few weeks ago. I picked my new toy up middle of september.

Few things need to do:

New front pads
change the bushes allround
fit a lsd
lower either coilovers or just springs not sure yet
get it aligned and set up properly
upgrade the HT leads
some kind of exhaust system

Love the new car so different to drive bit hard work in the wet. Im sure there will be more to do

Few updates over the last few months:

So i received my parcel in the post from Moss Europe and Demon Tweeks.

So first from Demon Tweeks i have my ebc yellow stuff pads ready to put in for the track day at donny in dec. Not fitted yet.

I have had the harness bar on order for about 5-6 weeks. Glad it come at last. The rocker cover breather filter and HT leads just need to fit my harness bar and the spreader plates for my harness on tuesday

Right so after getting all my bits in the post friday i set about putting them on today on my day off.

I had a exhaust fitted by Phil at Unique Exhausts. It is a 3 1/2" tail pipe, cat back system. Forgot to take some pictures while it was on his ramp. So i quickly took these today in the garage.

Forgot to add i painted the hardtop myself from the white i brought it too the black. Need to get it lowered now, change a few seals and bushes

The brakes are brilliant as they are just with the upgraded pads. Will change the fluid soon aswell. The suspension does need lowering there is too much of a gap i know

yes mate ive seen it on here and mx5 nutz. I got my harness bar from moss europe mine was on back order for nearly 2 months tho! But as far as i could find and make out it is the only place you can get them from new.

ive seen them a few times on nutz in the for sale part but not very often at all

So i have been wanting to lower my car for a while but while saving for probably for some miesters i saw these of ebay:

Rears were dead easy to remove. Fronts were slightly harder to do. Gona use them for abit while saving for coilovers to see how i get on. Few pics of how it sits now:

UPDATE

So after some time searching for some 4 point harnesses i managed to find some on here and finally got them fitted. I also had a problem that when i have my helmet on on track days my head touches the roof so i set about making some seat mounts for the drivers side. The bucket seats i have are metal framed and mounted under the seat.

I then started to think about the bucket seats with a trip to the ring in july and a few track days at donny hopefully later in the year again last year i used these seats in my saxo and my arse was so numb on the way there! i then thought about replacing some of the foam in the seats.

So i headed of to dunhelm and brought some of this

As well as the spray glue from halfords. I then started replacing the foam on the base and around the supports behind your knees

So while the seat covers were off i washed them and they came out as good as new.

So managed to fit the drivers seat back in and it sits slightly lower which is brilliant. And now there is some new foam in the seats so much more comfortable! Just need to re fit my harness bar and wrap my new harnesses round it. Need to get a few more pictures on tuesday on my day off.

Update

Took car for mot last tuesday managed to get a pass. Took abit to get it through the emissions.
Only 1 advise which i was AMAZED by!!

So now comes the spending and ordering of parts So few bits have come in the post so far

Fitted the new gear shift boots realy needed the tope and bottom seals. Completely split into two bits for both.

Fitted the brake pedal and clutch pedal rubbers.

Brought the ate fluid ready for when the skuzzle group buy brake flexis come through.

Awaiting some more parcels for gear box fluid, diff fluid, wiper blades and gear shift and handbrake gators.

Also booked in for a new roof at jack smiths towards the end of the month. And booked in at blink motorsport for a suspension setup next tuesday 9th.

All starting to come together now! Now going out for a drive in it!

So while the sun was shinning today i looked at my drivers side electric window beings it was geting slower and slower at moving up and down. I stripped down the door panel and removed all the old grease that had blocked the window runners. Not the most amazing update but glad it is now done. Also cleaned it!

Fitted my gear oil and diff oil. The car is now so much easier to get in gears when the car is cold. Would recommend to anyone the gear oil i used! Also fitted a 4 way 12v charger and rerouted my microphone for the bluetooth system

Update

So today i went to Blink Motorsport to have my alignment done. Arrived at 10.00am ready for Richard to start working his magic!

So we decided the best setup would be Blinks Road Warrior setup with a few tweeks to it. The tweeks to the setup were mainly down to the rear camber adjusters that are at full adjustment due to the lowering springs that were fitted. Also the steering wheel had always pulled to the right so this was to be setup aswell. So there is more camber on the rear and aswell the front to compensate the rear camber. This is more than the normal setup would be.

So while the setup was being finished and road tested for a wheel vibration which it had before i came in i spoke to Fraser about all sorts. Asking loads of questions to do with their race cars and about some equipment they have. Fraser showed me their ASNU Fuel Injector System at work looks an awesome machine!

I then asked them to check the wheel balancing due to the wheel vibrations. They were all out abit even though i haven't had them that long from Demon Tweeks they needed re balancing.

So after a wheel alignment and wheel balancing i left very happy and couldnt wait to go for a drive!

So after some food from maccys i left for the journey back. I decided i wanted to go for a drive so i went on this little journey:


•winsford cheshire
•Sandbach
•congleton
•macclesfield
•then on towards buxton


I went up along the Cat and Fiddle for a drive had the roof down was warm and sunny! Dont realy know where i went off this road just down some of the smaller roads to avoid the average speed cameras on the cat and fiddle and that area.

Some amazing roads around there had a good drive! Then ended up coming back through leek, Cheadle and back to Uttoxeter.

UPDATE


So i took the car last tuesday to jack smith trimmers in swansea to have my roof done. So set off early 4.45am to do the 3 1/2 hour trip in the end took 4 hours with the traffic. Finally got there and left it with them to sort while i went for a wander around swansea. Spent a few hours doing that until i was bord so headed back!


Got back and they were just finishing it. Had a chat with them while finishing it off then set off for the long journey back. On the way back it was sunny so decided drive back with the roof down and avoid all the motorways this ended up taking my 5hours to get home but was worth the extra driving!


So a few pictures need to take some better ones but iam very impressed with the new roof!

And thats it up until now. Got the nurburg trip on the 12th-15th july and a track day booked at donny on the 19th july. Other than this enjoyed driving especially when you can get the roof down.

Update

Copied again from another forum

So after purchasing the group buy brake flexis skuzzle organised i set about fitting them. At the same time i replaced both front calipers due to one of them sticking on.

So off came the old calipers

Replaced them with new calipers and re painted them back to red. At the same time replaced the standard rubber flexis with the stainless red hoses. Cant find the pictures of the fronts fitted.

After this is started on the rear. keeping the original calipers which are ok and re fitted the new stainless hoses.

to bleed the brakes. The brakes feel good and its another job ticked off the list. Tommorrow should have a few more updates regarding some interior changes and a good clean!
