View Full Version : Brake Friendly People and Lane Hoggers

Seriously what the fuck is with these people?!
done my usual pompey darlo trek today
people braking on a slip road, the motorway was clear, they are breaking, dont they realise they are supposed to be speeding up and not braking?!
then they are in outside lane (fast) and nothing in front for miles, sat at 70 and they start braking, why?! there is no reason for this at all.
then we have the lane hoggers, they sit in the middle or fast lanes at 70 it does my head in, i know its speed limit, but seriously, its not how you use the motoway, i go faster than 70, the limit needs to be raised to suit the cars we have these days.
i also think people who lane hog should be pulled over and given points, it will teach them that they are wrong and can cause accidents and congestion, imo its worse speeding (on motorway only)
whats your opinions?!

i aggree with alot of that, but tbh middle lane at 70 is acceptable fi the slow lane is busy, eg truck and old ppl, but wankers that sit in fast lane do my tits in
had it other week, section of the A1 at gateshead ahs been dropped to 50mph, its still majority doing 70+
some prick sat in fast lane doing 50mph even though the slow lane was TOTALLY empty, it was 9:30pm and still he sat there, i was right on his bumper and he knew it, still he does not move over to let me past :/
why?

There is no such thing as a fast or slow lane? The speed limit for all three lanes is 70mph. However people that sit in the middle lane which is used to overtake lorries really pisses me off.

if we are going to get picky and clever, the middle lane is for over taking anything, not just lorries
yeah blackie, if the slow lane is full then fair enough 70 is fine
i drive back in the dark on a sunday and you will have 3 lanes empty and someone just sat in the middle lane, litterally only me and them on the road does my head in

Not being clever, i'm telling the truth. I don't see anywhere in the highway code thats its acceptable to do 100 in the right hand lane, which lets be honest is a majority of bmw and mercedes drivers, so they do 100mph to make up for the fact there penis's remain flacid 99 percent of the time.
I know its for overtaking more than just lorries
Predator_R32
9th September 2011, 18:10
lorries are only meant to travel at 60mph on motorways
this is why ill use the middle lane and travel at 70mph with cruise control on, but if the motorway is empty yes id probablies use the left hand lane

Is the speed limit on the motorway only 70mph?
Paul

Definately think the speed limit on motorways should be higher now we have more modern technology and cars, with better brakes, suspension etc.
100 is a nice round figure.

everyone knows the lanes as slow middle fast, as well as inside middle outside, you are just trying to be clever.
i dont think speeding on the motorway has anything to do with how long someone has a hard on for
good luck with that tom, shouldnt be too bad thought at this time

lorries are limited to 56 and i also hate all the above, i also hate people are doing less than 70 but move out to 3rd lane to over take cars going faster than them  it happened this morning a woman driver so i started to get close to her and she was ranting and raving i was like wtf if you dont want people to tailgate you when they are doing LESS than 70 then get the fuck out of 3rd lane, pisses me off.

As for people braking early that winds me up no end

Aren't the motorways 70 due to the reasons the road couldn't cope if we went faster? Nothing to do with the cars?

People that brake when theyre on a straight road and nothin is in front of them REALLY does my nut in. It doent bother me the first few times but when they keep doing it (especially at night when the lights brigher) it fucks me off.
Even worse when they brake and actually slow down, half the time they dont slow down but show their brake light. After a few miles of them repetitivley doing it, I just flash them everytime they brake.
If they do slow down unnessarily loads of time when braking then il go up their arse as though its a WTFs going on here situation why you randomly braking.
If I overtake and they catch up and laugh because they catch back up, im just like well ive saved more fuel from keeping a constant speed than you braking all the time and speeding up :)
Happened the other week, this woman did it, then at some traffic light she came up along side but a few cars in front in the next lane and stopped at the light, she laughed and shook her head..this pissed me off as she was driving like a div yet I wasnted tomaintain a constant speed. Traffic starts moving again and im beside her, I maintain being beside her looking accross and she acts obvlious to me. Funny how they do stuff when they cant be confronted lol. Then she turns off and shakes her head again. Fucking idiot, makes me angry thinking about it right now.

i get massive road rage i just cant help it!
im on the m4 and m25, 5 days a week usually about 70-75mph in the middle lane. WHY DO TARDS come up behind me flashing there lights for me to get out the way! they can more than easily get into the fast lane. thats usually when the middle finger and tailgating side comes out of me.
Im not sure why i always get it though, becuase my friends or family never have this prob. must just be becuase i drive a saxo.

i have cruise control, so stick it at 80 and just let it go, the amount of people who go past, then i over take them, then they go flying past again, then i over take them, happened once over and over for half an hour just weird

Er.....
If the inside lane is clear it's there to be used. All it does is clog up the roads where people are worried about undertaking because some tard is sitting in 1 lane for no reason.

i sit in the fast lane with the beemers audi's and company astra's :)
one thing i found though, no matter how fast you are actually going, it's not fast enough.
was doing 100 back from wales last month and this was the actual speed of the lane, had this absolute dick behind me in a audi up my arse for about 4-5 miles, so i move over, then back behind him, and he gets up the arse of the car that was originally in front of me, etc etc etc.
that really fucked me off, there is no need for it, i clearly couldn't move for him as it's just pointless !!

Wtf is that, it said turbo on the back, it was a sleeper I think, some next shitey looking white van thing lol. The turbo sign was half degraded off lol. I don't understand why people in the fast lane speed up to 90, then slow down to 60, then speed back up.
I used to drive on the M1 and m25 4 hours a day for 10 months. I saw this a lot.
As LSO said, you can be cruising nicely at 80Mph then some turd decides to go faster and then a few miles up the road, you catch up with him. I think they need to work on their speed control.

I hate people who sit in lane 2! Are they that incapable of planning a lane change that they just sit there all day? Then move over to lane one a mile from their exit. If I'm going quicker means I have to move from lane 1 to 3 and back to 1 just to get round.
Sometimes when I'm bored I like to circle them, overtake in 3, drop into 1 and slow down till they pass then overtake again. Record was 9 times and they still didn't notice :|

Some people are just far too keen to use their brakes. Even going as far to brake for oncoming cars in the opposite lane sometimes!
When people are sat in the middle lane on busy motorways I like to pass in the third lane then signal on and cut across to the first lane nice and close in front of them, practically taking their bumper off. Whether they get the message though or just choose to ignore it I don't know
Worst thing has to be people who don't signal. Drives me mad sometimes! Rare you can ever teach them a lesson aswell. Apart from the odd rare time when they're on a roundabout and should be signalling right but they're not, and you know they're planning to take an exit which is past yours but you just pull out anyway and cut them up causing them to hit the brakes. Or when you're behind them at a crossroads and you know they're planning to turn right but they've got no signal on and they've positioned themselves bang in the middle of the lane so there's just enough room to pull alongside with your right signal on. BOOM!

happened to me literally an hour ago, dual carriageway, crash barrier etc, following someone around 75 lorry going the other way, guy was straight on the brakes.
then some noob just stopped at a roundabout when it was clear, me thinking he was gonna carry on nearly went into back of him . was one of them 'OH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIT HIT THE BRAKES QUICK STOMACHS TURNING RAPIDLY' moments. :wall:

had a couple of things annoy me over the last few days. I dont usually get rage.
A woman and suprise suprise in a 1.1 citroen saxo gives way to the right to 2 cars at a set of traffic lights (no they are meant to wait) drifting along at 25mph ready to turn right and she puts the anchors on to let them go by, im like WTF!!! flashed to show my annoyance ofc. Stupid bint! why do do that?
Few people parking up on a main road to drop there m8's off leaving traffic to build up. Get a fuckin grip will you?
A woman was sat doing like 30ish in a 40 but srsly theres no cams here love press on, so i dropped a cog to overtake, oh hai she gets road rage and puts her foot down to get infront (roundabout ahead you see. ;)) you could see her face angry. Major lolage. do one, fhag!
I go to pull out of the drive, no cars coming down, nose of the cars out.. oh hai a C1 nearly beasted my bumper, flying down the backstreet, not a care in the world.
How some people passed is beyond me.

Don't understand why you complain about people doing 70 in the inside lane. As half of the time i just want to cruise at 70 with the flow of the traffic.
I agree on the fast lane, and lane hoggers though.
The only bit of driving that pisses me off are on country roads where people do 40 in a 60. Then go and do 40 in a 30? Assholes.

why?
That's f**king crazy that section of A1 I've been driving up and down it all week in a minibus full of 3-5 year olds and 50 seems far to slow even in a big mini bus.
Driving along sections of the road like that make you think why are they contemplating raising the National speed limit to 80 if they are going to slow certain sections of the road down to 50. I know it does get really busy there at peak times but at other times 50 seems ridiculous.
IMO it's just asking for more accidents to happen... let's take a road where all the traffic is flowing at 70 and make some sections of it 50 and other sections of it 80... doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out there will be more accidents.
Although I do agree with the national speed limit being raised to 80, I do feel that the money they are planning to spend in doing so, would be better spent on educating your every day driver on things that many experienced drivers still get wrong, eg using all lanes available 'merge in turn' (this is one of my pet hates, especially if you follow the highway code and do merge in turn, many people feel you are pushing in and decide to beep their horns or give you some abuse), using slip roads correctly, not sitting in the outside lane etc. All things which slow the flow of the traffic down.

i drive up and down country all the time, i know what you mean, but it doesnt really throw you all over the road, the roads worn from lorries, it just follows the road, lorries dont weave so i dont get how it pulls you all over?
and its also not an excuse for middle lane hogging

I'd rather just stick to my middlelane at 3am in the morning when no one else is on the motorway, that way if i see the deer lurking at side of the road i've got more response time lol.
I understand and share your frustration with people who cruise in middlelane during the daytime and you have to go from lane 1 to 3 back to 1 to overtake them lol.

I'd rather just stick to my middlelane at 3am in the morning when no one else is on the motorway, that way if i see the deer lurking at side of the road i've got more response time lol.
I understand and share your frustration with people who cruise in middlelane during the daytime and you have to go from lane 1 to 3 back to 1 to overtake them lol.
oh i dont go round most of them, just carry on in my lane, i have my middle finger pressed up against window

had a couple of things annoy me over the last few days.
John, if you're behaving like that you're no worse than the examples you posted. Sort it out.
They're normally either oldies or not british (i.e. got their license in another country).
middle lane hogging seems pretty broad in the range of people than do it. there is no particular group that does middle lane hogging.
If I'm done scumland I tend to sit in the middle lane aswell even when cruising, I hate the wonky inside lane caused by all the lorries.
If you find it so difficult to control your car on a tram-lined inside lane, then it's time to hang up your driving gloves I'm afraid.
IMO Everyone should buy and have a flick through this every few months. Keep it in the bathroom or something. Or if you have a driving cock up, you can find out what car was actually doing it right etc:

For those who love a bit of bullying other drivers, get a few observed runs with these guys. If you pass the test, you'll have some proof of how skilled you are. The training makes driving much less stressful in the first place.

AIM ftw. I'm doing the theoretical stuff at the mo.
no thanks.

Based on what you claim to do John, I think you'd benefit from it.
Im off to experience some lane hoggers and random brakers now on my 3hours stint on the M1.
Doing the very same... GF is driving and I'm on the Lappy.
I had a big ass deer run out infront of me whilst i was doing 'motorway speeds' on the stretch of motorway a while ago.
I always think now if i'm in middlelane i'll have more of a chance of avoiding hitting him if he decides if he wants to write another one of my cars off lol.
Plus the streetlights are never on the motorway :homme:
More chance of ploughing it into a nice hard central reservation then a soft hedge/verge.

Again Paul, if you've got a fear of dears leaping out at you, then you probably need to hang up the driving gloves too.
Chow.

scumland is that england or scotland? if the slow lane is clear, then there is just no reason whatsoever to sit in the middle lane
i actually think people should get points for just sitting in middle lane, clearly cant use motorway, alot of people would learn fast
ive never found its more women, i actually see alot of young lads just sat in the middle lane
That would be england mate... Do you not get what I mean with the dodgy inside lane? It throws you over the road because of the lines the heavy lorries cause? It's even worse when your car is super low

based on what? fair enough with the angry woman i overtook. but the others arnt my fault. people shouldnt stop on main roads to drop people off! give way when they clearly arnt meant to etc etc.
another fine example tonight, a megane decides il not indicate coming my way and stop on my side of the road! i mean wtf, near head on collision due to his stupidity.

Lane hoggers, drive behind them and flash lights. If that doesnt work do it again. If that fails, undertake like a cunt.
Brake happy fuckers, leave enough room for when they slam on. People that brake for no reason piss me off though, as there is no reason for it.
John you seem to have lots of 'bad' luck with other road users. Are you a shit driver yourself? Remind me not to drive near you ;)

i've never met anyone that sticks to 70 on a motorway... honestly, very occasinally i have to drive to to faslane or devonport with work, i get a nice big company car and spend a good 5 hours of the day on the motorway, in the fast lane all the way following the car in front
EDIT: actually, i tell a lie - my sister has a 1.0ltr mini, i was in her car going down the motorway once and we couldn't get it above 65mph, so i guess i do, but that was the only time

left hand lane turning right on a roundabout. Worse if they complete a full lap. Need dragging from the car and thrashing like an insolent sailor.
FYI undertaking isn't illegal. The only "offence" is driving without due care and attention or careless driving. And the fuzz would have to prove your manoeuvre was actually careless/dangerous - if you cruise past in lane 1 doing 70 whilst the chump in lane 2 is doing 60, should be fine :)

good shout mate... its ridiculous, even when people use the left hand lane then snap on their indicator at the last second and continue to go right, i've crashed two cars on roundabouts (one of which was a write off) where people have done that...
