How did you come across your saxo?

Hello all. Just another curious post. Wondered how people had decided to get their saxo?? I went to a car dealer near me, and saw mine there. Was in mint condition, and i knew it had potential!!! :cool: Did people get recommendations or just like the look?? Cheers, Dave

i used to have a 1.1i and it was my pride and joy but just didnt do it for me performance wise so i managed to sweet talk my parents into letting me get a vtr and within about a week of looking i had an immaculate vtr sitting on my drive and a huge smugg face to go with it, although the smile is slowly wearing off as i've had a few problems with it.

my current one i bought after going through loads of cars and really missing the fun of a sax so i traced it down and bought it.

I was lookin for a westy for ages cus they just ticked all the boxes, reasonably fast for a first car (which in reality means verrrry slooooow) and looks spot on, plus i cant be bothered to pay 1.5k ish for a VTR and then pay at least the same for insyrance lol

Well my old escort had seen better days and after being stolen and recovered and not being able to afford to fix it I sold it for £75 lol.

Got a new job the next week and saw the vtr advertised at a local garage. Went for a test drive on the friday night and loved it. Picked it up the following tuesday.

my first car was a citroen ax gti ! (yes also known as citroen saxo mk1) ....

anyway, as i started of french, i use to look at other french cars (dont ask), saw the saxo and thought, its sweet looking, (at this time the phase II aka mk2 was introduced) which i fell in love with....... after my ax gti i fiddled around with jap cars (civic vti's...dont ask why i came back) but the looks of the saxo phase II done it for me so hence my black mk2 vtr :P

Loved the look of the Saxos when i was about 14, always wanted one but having a look round a few years later and not having a full time job the saxos at the time seemed far too expensive and i looked at 106 etc instead. Then got a job decided screw it ill get a loan if i have to and went in search for a Saxo..... Eventually found the one ive currently got, insurance was cheap so i got it.

used to have a peugeot 306 myself, done alot of work on it ie smoothing, fitting full bodykit, sound system bla bla bla

my mum has a little 1.4 west coast and ever since she got it it kept catching my eye lol the fact that they look great when lowered and only lowered appealed to me soo much!

when the 306 died decided to get a saxo vtr, but it had to be in black looked at soo many atleast 8 in total most were in bad nick, dings and chips on bodywork oh and the gearbox on most of them had gone or was on its way out!

found one in the end 32k on it up for £4000 test drove it, gearbox was on its way out lol so the dealer knocked off £1000 for me to take it away so i said yes! used the money to get a recon box SORTED!!

It belonged to a mate who bought it from new. He wanted to sell it for 8K about 6 years ago but decided to keep it. He had an accident and ripped the front end off, got it fixed and then sold it to me 3 years ago to me for 4K. God doesn't the price fall afer a few years?! I bet my VRT will be worth £500 next year. Doh!

1st mk2 saxo......was walkin home from college and noticed it looking at me all sad lol
saw it in a garage on the way home from college.... liked the colour and was cheap to insure ect so bought it

2nd saxo... after my ban was up my mum had a mk1 1.1 saxo she has owned this from new..she gave it to me when i got my license back and she got a civic... and there we have it lol

i wanted to get a new car as my vitara fatboy was still worth over 2k so i was thinking about a subaru impretza sport or a saxo, so we were going past a citroen garage one day and i got my parents to stop so i could have a look at a 1.1 but then a vtr caught my eye so i went over to have a look and within 2 minutes the salesman came over with the keys so i sat in it to see if i would fit in and i could just. so i sorted out a loan and bought it it had 14k on the clock and it was £5670 on a 52 plate. ive only had it 17 months and i have never had any problems with it at all, i think i have been quite lucky as most people have had their fair share of problems.

im on my 3rd!

First was a 1.0 spree saxo did me very well but wanted sommit faster. Looked on quinn direct and found insurance for £1200 so i went in search for a vts. Went to beech and saw a vts for sale outside a B&B got the number phoned up and went back same day to look and bought it. Head gasket went shortly after along with loads of other things so i sold it.

Then i got a 206 and grew very bored of it so went out and saw a vtr in autotrader, went to look at it and the moment i saw it i loved it! Wanted black ideally but i also liked blue so went for a look at it was mint would have been stupid to turn it down.

Still love it now 5 months on, dispite all the little problems im having! Great car all round.

my old astra failed the mot so i just went lookin about and i saw the vtr in the 2nd garage i looked in and the colour pulled me in straight away, i knew she was mine......mwahh ha hah hah haaaaaa!
