When I did mine i sprayed like apc/degreaser stuff everywhere underneath left it for 10 mins came back did another coat waited 5 mins then washed it off with a jet washer.
I put a room heater underneath for a while to dry it all out, then when it was bone dry I just went over everything with a nice even coat of hammerite undersell.
(obv it was on stands)

Don't use hammerite underbody seal with waxyol, its shit, never dries solid. Chips off easily and rust still grows behind it.
Used it on my old saxo, was fine and looked good for 6months, 10months later jacked it up and the jack went right through, turns out the car had rusted to fuck underneath the underseal.
Theres far better stuff out there. Hammerite is good at certain products, just not underseal.

Ive just done the saxo......as above cleaned it many times with APC to make sure all grease, oil and general shit is removed.
Then i left the car to dry for a few days.
Any rust spots were first treated with kurust gel and painted with anti rust primer. Finished it all off with black waxoyl in aerosols. Think 6 cans cost me £35 and i applied several good thick coats.

waxoyl is the stuff to use, underseal is the work of satan and only good for hiding piss poor MOT patch repairs with splodgy welding

there is nothing wrong with pisspoor mot repairs...
not that i repair cars, honest...
other than this one dodgy one, slam panel was rusted to fuck, so i used exhaust putty and oxy to shape it and then underseal to paint it black!
so long as you didnt touch it, it looks like a fucking piece of art.
i mean, that enver happened :detective:

This is very similar to the method i plan to use as the car is a mk1 so likes rust although saxos do in general :)
What do you mean by kurust gel as the only bits i have got so far are the underseal which is a brush type and same with the kurust treatment sorry if its a dum question i have my moments and wherecan you get the black waxoyl aerosoles as i am very fussy with anything and have read half your thread J2 so would probally use your methods thanks.:y:

anyone put any anti rust stuff in their engine bay? Mines starting to rust a little, its in hard to reach places to get to naturally (back wall as it were of the engine bay) so would have to treat with a spray.

I've used it on mine it seemed to be tacky, if i was to run my hand on it would leave black my hands, the top layer seems to go hardish but under that seems soft....
I took it all off and just used hamerite smooth black paint looks alot better now.

As James said.
To the guy who said Waxol didn't do anything and your jack went though the car...... Did you wire brush the whole car first?
Did you treat ANY rust area's with krust. You have to apply several coast to ensure its fully covered.
The area has to be bone dry and clean of any contaminants.
You get better results if you spray Waxol on. It gets everywhere if you spray it on, great for inside recess that you cant reach and way up inside the front wing where your arms aren't long enough to reach to the top. I'd also suggest spraying your bushes and bleed nipples on your callipers. It will help them from seizing up. It's not recomended that you paint waxol on, spray only.
I've read you need to re-apply Waxol every year, its prone to drying out and cracking.
Read that from my progress thread: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showpost.php?p=5559954&postcount=31
