Hi all

Thinking about swapping the VTR for either a VXR or 197.

Just wondering what kind of premiums you guys are paying for the above cars.

I've rang insurance company today, but they're having "technical difficulties".

Thanks

What someone else is paying for their car wont be the same for you.

Oh yeah kind of forgot to mention. 20 in October. 1 years no claims. No points, convictions etc.

I know mine won't be the same as other people's. Just wondered what others are playing.

What I dont understand is why there are so many of these threads?

Go to Comparison sites, get a number plate from a similar car on pistonheads and enter that along with your details - takes 10 mins and will get you your desired answer.

Obviosuly didn't read my original post. I've already rang my insurance company and they couldn't tell me at the time.

I'm not asking people how much mine is going to cost, I'm wondering how much other people pay.

at the age of 20, with 1 yr ncb... i think i was getting quotes around the 1700 marker for the vxr when my old man had one for a while!

that was 20, going 21 with 0NCB...

tbh at that age with that no claims...you want to dismiss daft ideas like that and get a car suited to the age of what you can sensibley insure...

unless youve got money to piss away in which case...as above tbh

A quick go on a comparison site will give you a more detailed ballpark figure rather than what any one on here could tell you as it would be quotes from various other insurances as different jobs/kids/finance/post code etc etc etc will vary.

or dont you have a spare 10 mins.

c'mon

200 > 206

can't even compare the two really, simple fact that 200 is a 2 year old car at the most, same can't be said for the 206.

206 vs 182 is a valid comparison.

why do people always moan like a bitch about insurance .

shop around don't take the first quote you get .

and pay it and stop moaning or just get yourself BMX and save your cash.lol

really, ive always found that quotes to start on the same day are about £40+ more then if you wanted them to start the following day

197 cup is also more rare than the 182 trophy ;)

just get one without the gay styled splitter / spoiler

Im 24 and pay £950 for an Astra VXR with 6 years ncb
Mods all insured etc

I was getting really stupid quotes on price comparison sites £1800 min

Rang near enough any company i could find and finally got it down! Near enough half!
Dont take what the comparison sites say for gospel. Only way to do it is to really shop around with brokers!
Try Sky insurance and Brentacre (they were good for me, not saying they will be same for you but worth a try mate)
If they ask you what uve been quoted dont say a stupid price, say one you think is reasonable compared to what you have seen and see if they will match it or better it and throw some bits in)

Try Greenlight too but be weary of them as they gave me the best quote then when i rang up to confirm the policy they doubled it because they said i had no experience of a high powered car as a cammed vts would not be more than 170bhp so they said i was a risk

lol! i just cant believe he compared a 206 to a pretty much brand new track designed/inspired car, the 200's are very very good cars, not even the best std 206 could touch a 200

Didn't realise this thrad was still getting input.

Anyway, rang up insurance comp. On an 09 plate it will cost me an extra £700 until the end of term (April 2012) and I've already paid £900 this year for my insurance.
