My standard gear stick on the AX takes one of those push on knobs - it runs through a compbrake quickshift so pretty standard - anyway, the knob kept coming off on track!

So what is the best stick i can use that isn't a satch, maybe one that takes a screw on knob.

Some universal ones use grubscrews to hold them in place.

Failing that wrap the shaft in a layer of insulation tape then hammer it on. goin nowhere then!

I opted for a Quaife nylon gearknob and converted the o/e stick to screw on.

you can pretty easily remove the stick and thread the end with a die set. I did mine and have a ek9 knob on it.

I've done the same on mine. Then drilled out a Nylon Ball, and screwed it on.

If youve got the round stick yea remove the plastic happy days

Some come with a ridgy square top section to grip the knob and that would be a fucker unless you did something like dave shows above
