Hi all
Im new here, joined today but was just wondering about insurance prices so far my cheapest quote is £1812 on my mothers with the COOP, i will be driving the car most likely on the nights and she would have it during the day so i will be doing it legit. But i have 2yrs no claims from a motorbike, can this be brought onto a car policy.
Quote Details
7Yrs no claims for the mother
50 + yr old parent
Cars in her name
Just wondering also if this is a good price 1812 ?
Thanks

because of your age, insurance is going to be high.
troo fakt dat.
will your mum REALLY be driving the car more than you ?
is it her car? ... or is it yours, and in her name to try and make insurance cheaper ?

Well it will be about the same, accept when i go for trips upto blackpool with the misses. The cars registered in her name, and we bought the car together.
If i can bring my motorbike no claims over i would put it in my name and get insurance on my own so i can build up no claims and add mother as a second driver

Try Adrian Flux, I'm with them, I bought my first years insurance last year at 18 and it cost me £1200 with no added drivers or anything. :)

They used to be good a year or so back for young drivers.

If you are using your mums 7 years NCB on the policy already then you can't add yours (whether motorbike or car) on top of this.
It's your age which is putting up the price.
As a test remove yourself from the quote and it will probably be like £300 for your mum on her own, especially with 7 years NCB!
I doubt you are going to get it much cheaper than £1800 in my opinion, shop around as much as you can though :)

Sometimes its cheaper to have yourself as the main driver and mother as the named. Try it, although I cant see it being cheaper.
thats a good price for your age etc

I haven't needed to claim off them so no idea what they're like for claims haha!
They were well recommended on UKSC forums so checked them out and they gave me the cheapest quote.
£1200 with no additional drivers or anything on my own policy as opposed to £2800 anywhere else isn't too bad. :P

To be fair they were really good with me. I used their camper conversion policy last year and nearly used them again this year they gave me the cheapest quote, but this year I have to pay in installments and the finance company they use had a crazy apr which made them more expensive than the higher quote I got from my current provider. I'd definitely use them again!

best advice is pay the ins when you young, just get a shit car.... then when your older youll get some better cars..i know a few lads whove drove on rents policy for years, they had better cars when they were younger...but now theyre older we can insure other stuff as we have NCB...where as they still havent, so cant insure decent stuff...as even on the rents policy...theres only so much you can get cheaper..insurance companies arent daft to that now
and they still have no NCB so still gonna cost them a bomb on a shed

I have to much pride to drive a shed lol, and its £4500 to inusre at my age for my saxo, but im happy sticking with a saxo till im 21 then get myself a astra diesel but by then ile have a full time job so i could afford the pricey insurance when i go on my own. Thats the plan anyway lol

What car would you deem a shed compared to a Saxo lol?
He isn't suggesting you buy a car which is falling apart, he means get a car which is lower risk to insurance companies like a Toyota Starlet 1.3 for example.

as above, ad youll regret it i guarantee it, by that time youll want a proper car an because youve got no NCB you WONT be able to get one

I'm 18 with no years no claims and on my Saxo VTR (lowering declared) its costing my £2700 for the year with two named drivers on the policy.
A quote for when I get my one year no claim: Same care, same added drivers etc but goes to about £900 with the same company!
