make sure if its done 70,000 odd miles it has alot or full service history as i know alot of vts's which have gone wrong about the 50,000 mark. My old 1, Mike_vts, and some old mates all had to replace the head gasket, so maybe ask if its been changed recently? It will save you a big pay packet if it has...
H/G doesn't last all the long as a rule on the vts
make sure you check for oil leeks too which is common on the vts rocker cover / head gasket and you should be ok! You dont wanna take home a car which is gonna cost you a bomb in the short term future!! How much is it up for?

with the vts on that mileage id want the cambelt to have been changed
but things to check are the same on any car but.... the boot flloor for ripples/dents etc, the sills for rust, check the vin pl8s are in place and correct, check theres an engine no. on the cambelt cover, all the usual stuff and u'll be fine :Y:
