Hi everyone, in need of some advice please, im getting my R32 resprayed in a candy coloured paint (not going to say what colour just yet)

My question is do i have to use a specialist bodyshop as a few folk have told me its a specialist job respraying candy effect paints?

Not sure how true this is, i have tried to contact the guy who has resprayed cars for me in the past but can't get hold of him.

Any advice would be great folks, cheers in advance David.

I think you should bin off the "ali g" "ripspeed" "chav" paint idea and just give in and paint it midknight purple you fag :homme:

Or if you want to stand out "ford transit white"..

You need to do an undercoat of something.. I saw it on Pimp my ride.

You're better off getting it dome professionally as blemishes will show as dark/light spots will show more easily.

Needs to have a base of normally gold for red's and silver for pretty much every other colour. All panels need to be painted at once on the car all at once and you have to start each pass at the back and go all the way to the front with no dry spots or double pass's. Yeah its a job for specialist's and its a big money job too your talking 2 to 3 times as much as a normal 2 stage paint.

Also worth thinking is that if you have a damaged (keyed, chipped, scratched dented) panel there is no chance of just painting the one panel the least you will get away with is the full side or full front.

My advice is don't every car i have have painted in candy (me included) have wished they had not have done it. Have a look into 3 stage pearls same sort of effect but half the price and pretty much any body shop can paint them.

If i was going for a blue i would stick with the original colour tbh.

Gibbo i kind of know where your coming from but I'm seeing the bigger picture, the car will have some nice wheels and carbon fibre to break it up a bit, the colour is Candy Teal btw.;)
