last year i paid £1700 for
my vectra sri 2.0 turbo, and a 1.2 corsa life
it was me and the wife

had my renewal through with another years no claims expecting it to be about the same price due to prices going up.

but the renewal was £4400

so driving carefully and getting extra no claims its nearly 3 x higher than last year

rang them up and they said yes it is wrong and we can reduce it, i thought great til she said it takes it down to £3900

:n:

so now ive got to sell my car as insurance is just to dear, just as weve had a baby i need to find a decent size family car thats cheap to insure.

A lot of a companies seem to be doing this, it must be automated because surely someone at the company would use their common sence and realise that nobody is going to pay 3x last year?

How old are you and how much NCB have you got?

You tried the prices on one of their multicar policies?

Shopped around?

send a letter to their customer services instead of giving a phone call to a muppet who's stuck behind his computer. Tell them they have the choice between giving you a reasonable quote or losing another customer.

Happened to a lot of people recently, including me. They doubled the price, I called them. The girl on the phone was useless, told her to tell someone in charge they have 48 hours to change that quote and ring me back. On the 48th hour and 10 minutes still no phone call so on the 48th and a half hour my direct debit was cancelled and I had a new insurance policy on the 49th hour.

Fucking lol, what a muppet. That's like saying "oh my god, tesco's is just too expensive to shop at so I am going to have to starve!"

Shop around, and if everywhere is still to expensive, then admiral aren't shit, everyone is shit. Muppet.

As said, shop around or ring admiral and make them an offer. People think I'm mad when I suggest this but it's only the same as bartering on anything else.

They have a service to offer, which can and will be profitable for them and they would be mad to decline!

name and shame tbh.

Now if my insurance company was inventing things, I would tell them the magic words. "Breach of contract" and "fuck off" I believe. I would also put the trading standards on their ass.

Seems odd that you are paying over a grand though, I could insure that care for like £600 and im 2 years older with a years more NCB.

I know mine will obviously be cheaper and there are loads of other factors but would still expect it to be less than a grand, whats your postcode rating?

I'm younger with points and the same NCB, I can insure that for far less!

admiral are doing that as your a higher risk then others in that car...so theyre tyring to lose your custom

they went on tv 2 months ago and publicly admitted they didnt want their prices to go up, theyre so cheap majority are going to them for cover, they said they werent putting their prices up as much as everyone else bu they were forced to put them up becuase if they didnt the influx of new policies would cripple them, they havent got the staff to handle it

with all this new business with sensible cars etc, they can afford to lose the few ppl with higher risks ;)

the end of the tax yar they announced MASSSSSSSSSIIIIIVVVVVE proffits and rewarded all their staff etc aswell, theyre working on branching out and more staff....but it takes time to implement it :y:

Your getting mugged mate. Theres nothing wrong with Admiral at all. infact they are one of the better ones. They do it because idiots just renew without shopping or giving them a call with an angry tone of voice. Im with admiral myself on a multi-car policy with my 106gti and my 1.4tdi polo. I was only 21 when i took the policy out and i pay £451 on the gti...

Well done on assuming he hasn't actually looked around and after not getting a better deal, having to sell up. Think of that when you call somebody a muppet twice in one post.

Every year I get my renewl through from Admiral and every year I go onto their website (also bell and elephant) and create a new quote with the same details of the renewal and it's loads cheaper :y:

Last year they gave me a silly quote so I went onto Bell as a new fresh customer and the price was amazing (half the renewal infact) so I rang Admiral told them what i'd done and as they are a sister company they matched the price. Simples.

It is probably already forcing some young people off the road but not if they are older with NCB. Even if my insurance went up 25% then it would still only be £750 fully comp.

I was doing my A-Levels when I first passed and my insurance was £1800 and the car was like £400. My monthly payments were like £150 which was a lot but I had a part time job so could cover it. If it was like 3-4k like some people now then I would not have had a car, luckily I didn't need one at the time, it was a luxury.

Some people need a car, some people want one.

It won't force many of the people who need a car off the road, it may force those who want one......

Update on my case.

With regards to claims, one was mistaken identity and they have removed it from my record, one is personal injury claim which they're disputing on my behalf. Didn't show a 3rd on record.

They were absolutely spot on today, called me so I didnt have to pay for the call. Waiting for a call back with a new quote as they said my quote of over £3000 was ridiculous.

On another positive note, confused.com have given me a quote of £855 with no NCB, 5 years driving and 23 years old which I don't think is to bad.
