Anyone got a pic of them and the markings on them?

Was told my S was cammed when I bought it, whipped cam covers off other day and they look to my untrained eye to be standard cams, which is pretty undesirable. :n:

thats the thing, the guy didnt know either as he bought it off a garage.

all i could see on them was iirc, 12 after the first cylinder (from lhs) then 10 after the next on the exhaust cam. think it was 5 and 6 on the inlet cam same places.

To be honest if anyone's cammed a car properly they're going to know when it was done, the manufacturer and model of the cam, the ECU will have been remapped to get it running smoothly or it'll be fitted with a standalone ecu. Unless somebody selling a car had all this information personally I wouldn't believe them if they said the car was cammed. Plenty on Ebay are listed as being cammed, chipped, power boost valves and whatever, I can't help thinking it's all bollocks and normally just some chav repeating what he's been told by the guy he bought it from down the pub.

Sorry, possible that you've got a bargain from someone who doesn't know what he has but it's pretty rare! As said if they're aftermarket cams they'll be stamped or cut somewhere, but I think it's normally on the end of the shaft itself IIRC so may be a bit difficult to read when fitted!

true, car has had 10 previous owners though so info regarding manufacturer/model could be misplaced/forgotton. does pull well and rev limit is up at 7,500.

gonna have covers off at weekend again to replace so ill have a closer look then

Could always get a dyno run done, for the sake of £30 odd quid that'd give you a definite answer ;)

Was told my S was cammed

to be honest, it's car history + receipts or STFU. Too many chavs making delusional claims about, even one in the beginners section right now saying he's got 160 bhp as factory standard.
