had a blocked injector. bought a full set of injectors off here with rail and the loom.
switched it all over with mine. turned key to electrics and heard fuel pump running. let it run until it stopped. so turned it over and a burst of fuel came out a couple of the injectors (just a slight burst).
tried again. nothing comes out of injectors. again and again i tried, let fuel pump run, turn and nothing coming out of injectors.
so disconnected the injector rail and fuel came out of fuel line and fuel rail which is normal. put my old injector rail in (one with 1 none firing injector) and again, let fuel pump run start car and they are doing nothing aswell now. so it seems fuels getting into the rails but not coming out of injectors.
whats causing this?

im no expert but maybe a bad electrical connection to the injectors?

Get a multimeter on each of the injector plugs and check your getting power to it,
The injector loom is plugged back in ok?

The injector loom is plugged back in ok?
yeah i assume so. i mean the clip bit on the plug was fully pushed in and plugged loom in as far as i could get it then the pin would go back to its normal position.

dont have one :(

hmmm maybe, but they did do a slight fire at 1st turn of the key for a split second but then nothing. after that so if the electrical connections where dodgy when i plugged them in it wouldnt have done that would it?

how would i know if its the relay? is the fuel relay under the ecu? if so should i hear it clicking whilst i have the key turned?
if so if i leave ecu in place whilst i get someone to turn key whilst i listen, is there other relays under the ecu that will click whilst the key is turned? or would i only hear the fuel relay?

oh like i said i can hear the fuel pump but it does seem to last quite long

ok so charged battery again lastnight.
today went to get another opinion on why the injectors aren't firing. so connected the batter. let the fuel pump prime. turned key then again all injectors did a lil burst then nothing after. so turn key again, nothing and again and again, so disconnected battery to see if it was only doing it when i reconnect battery. but again nothing.
so will leave it over night with battery in and try again.

Just trying to think of other causes 1 that comes to mind is a faulty fuel pressure regulator. The other thing to try is a dose of injector cleaner. What do the plugs look like(colour wise)?

clean as anything. and if you mean colour of the plastic they are grey (same as my old ones) where is the fuel pressure regulator? is it in the fuel line in the engine bay or is it on the fuel tank?

Is this a 3 plug car?
My car broke down with exactly the same problem, the car would fire for 2 seconds while it spits out fuel, but literally spits a little out and thats it.
I couldn't find the fix, but i had a spare ecu from a VTR and that worked, tried two other VTS ones and they wouldn't work.
Have you got an engine management light up?

In the fuel line mate.:drink:

just tested and yes management light is on, however the injectors aint in the block, no spark plugs in the block and no induction on tb so them sensors aint plugged in. i think tomorrow i'll put the injectors in the block and spark plugs and air filet/induction back on and get it all connected

where abouts roughly as in haynes it says at the end of the fuel rail but iv got 2 rails here and neither of them have it there, only other place haynes says is above fuel tank, and access from under rear seat but fuel tank has to be lowered to gain access???

Your fuel pressure regulator is under the rear bench.
Also plug all sensors in but leave the rail out, that way you can see if your fueling properly.

2nd October 2011, 19:08
But you say fuel is coming to the end of the rail at a high enough pressure? If so it wont be the fuel pressure regulator.

yeah it is cos if i disconnect fuel bursts out lol.
mcjacko1987
2nd October 2011, 20:42
and thats if iv had key turned several times before unplugging or if iv just turned the once and unplugged. get the burst and can feel the pressure and fuel runs out of the injector rail for a fair bit if i tip it to empty fuel out

very very strange thing happend today. thought id give it one more try before i take injectors off etc. so turned key and all for fired........ continuously :) battery was struggling tho sounded very close to dead. so put engine all back together and tried it but battery was too dead to start it. so charged battery. tried again and still has a bloody misfire :wall: :(:(:( reallllllly pissin me off now. engine management light has also come on (was never on when i was 1st testing injectors in a bucket but came on after a few tries). the injectors where a struggle to get in so is it possible they mite not be in fully?looked around them but was no fuel leaking out of them or anything.
if i rev it builds up slow and red line bounces a lot lot slower

At a guess i`d say where your injectors are struggling your draining the battery,i`d say get the injectors cleaned ultrasonically. That way you`ll get a report of the flow rate etc.

these new injectors are fine tho. at 1st i had 1 misfire. but replaced all 4. then had this problem where it would do a burst then nothing. but this morning they where all firing for as long as i held the key. so put injectors in (Which where a bugger) sparks back in, air filter back in and the engine still shaking like mad. for some reason tho i have a feeling the injectors aint in proper or one of the spark plugs..... but i dont know why i have that feeling :S lol

I`ve heard the injectors are a pressure fit & need to go in just so(I may be wrong)

Either that if it`s possible you could try a mates ecu,to rule out an ecu problem.

yeah il have to see what i can figure out. tomorrow im going to take plugs out ad see if the injectors will go in any tighter or out. just got me in a right mood today tho the bloody thing lol

I know the feeling every once in a while I get a misfire followed the eml light on the garage tells me its blocked injectors. So out comes the injector cleaner which I put in the tank & the problem goes away for a while.:drink:
