I was once told that if you have an interview, you have the job, until you mess it up in the interview, which many do.

Well done on getting an interview but dont hand in your notice yet.

My advice would not to be stiking that pose in your avatar when they call your name out in the corridor to come in for the interveiw...

What type of rate is it on mate and where did you find it?

I'm wanting an apprenticeship to try and get a decent career path, but I doubt I could survive on a £95 a week one :/

Good luck with it though :y:

My apprenticeship started on £120 a week 4 months ago, now im on £135. Goes up regularly, till im qualified.

It's surprising where you can save money if need be.

Maybe so, you've managed to afford a c2 vts on that wage as well? Maybe not too bad then.

Had some savings and borrowed a little bit, but earn enough to make decent payments regularly. All apprenticeship wages are shit until you gain experience, then once you're qualified, the skys the limit...

Nope, the new minimum wage rules say something like £2.60 an hour for apprentices. I dont get paid hourly but if i do the hours im meant to I get around that :/

Might be different then, i know thats what you get in the building trade if you take an apprentise on..

How any one can live on that is beyond me you must

Live at home
Not have a car
Never go out drinking
Get pocket money off your parents..

Im in the building trade so to speak. Sparky within new homes mainly.

I live at home, bought a car, maintain and mod it and pay for insurance, go out drinking and dont get money off my parents.

I had a pie earlier :A:

I wish I earned that, my bank balance would be amazing. I would also go shopping alot more though.

I pay for everything myself though. I mean, everything.

My spendings each month include:

Insurance
Board
Phone bill
Petrol
Contacts
Gym (never go though :homme:)
Plus more, but can't think :geek:

It all adds up.

I have approx £300 to myself each month, but that doesn't go far.

Only thing my parents pay for is my phone contract £15 and food lol.

Currently have £120 going to my mum and £100 to my grandparents each month. Leaves me with £270 each month to spend on petrol, nights out, fixing the car when need be and other bits.

It really gets you nowhere, does it?

That's not even £10 a day, so if you bought a shirt or something for £30, that's 3 days, in effect.

Shit init.

Getting paid weekly helps alot tbh. Helps me budget anyways, alot less days to budget for before next payday :P

I get paid monthly and don't really mind it.

I put a chunk of money away at the start of the month and if needs be, I'll dip into it, then whatever I have left, is savings :D

Student life must be fucking terrible having to live off £30 a week.

Don't your parents help you out? Surely you can't live off that?

£2.60 an hour, wouldn't even cover my rent!

If I was living at home and it was my first job to lead onto something better then I suppose I could do it for a while.

Most apprentices are 16-19 when starting off though so generally dont rent a place yet.

Everyone says to me its not worth getting out of bed for and slating me for it, when they're on £6 an hour at tesco... I just say it gets me a good trade at the end of it and where are they stuck...?

I also thought this. I'm a second year apprentice now but last year when I went to a training centre with loads of lads from around the country they all earnt about £30 a day. I'm one of the lucky ones that takes home a fair wedge each week as an apprentice because I'm on an hourly
Rate

£30 a day?! I couldn't live off that. You lot seem to have it good.

62 hours a week and take home £1400 a month

£450 rent
£400 bills
£86 insurance (Was £160 until this month)
£40 phone
£80 loan
£100 fuel

Sucks to be me...

Unfortunately with my girlfriend at uni and me as the only wage earner, I don't think I bank would come near us with a mortgage right now. I do agree with you though, wasted money.
