hiya fellas.

someone i know has a zetec s.
they reckon they can beat me on the 1/4 mile at santa pod.

stats are that the vtr is faster to 60 then the zetec by 1 second.
anyone know if that gap increases after 60?

mods on the saxo are:
pipercross induction kit
magnex exhaust. (back box only)
15" alloys (team dynamics pro race) 45 profiles.

zetec.
panel filter
fse fuel valve.
17" alloys with low profiles.
lowered.

any predictions on the outcomes? anyone come across a zetec n spanked them?

any tips? is it best to warm my car up before the trek down the strip?

VTR will kill it. They are effectivly Ford's VTS but weigh a SHIT lot more. My mate has a reasonably modded one and they're quick, but not VTR/S quick.

VTR all the way.

i used to have a fiesta si basically the same 1.6i 16v and the vtr is much faster in the lower and higher the si is the older version tho so newer might be better lose your spare and a little weight and you should spank him my mate has a zetec and says the same but never fancies trying his luck!

cheers lad, will fork out the cash for a run and make the loser pay for both people!

what about lowering your tyre pressure on the fronts slightly for a better launch?
whats the best revs to launch at (standard clutch) ?
best revs to shift up?

Not only is his heavier, its also rolling on 17's which will slow him down! My mates got one with enclosed air filter, magnex system and I absolutly spanked his bottom, my launch was naff, and spun my wheels a bit, as soon as they got traction and i hit second, bye bye, makes sure you wave to him on the way past!!!

Like above his going to be running on 17's which is more rubber, wheel and weight. The stig from top gear launches at 4500rpm. Says get the revs there and you can spank your foot off the clutch and it will just go off the line. I have never done it but that is what he says. You should win in the vtr.

The only good thig with the si was the seats. Vtr will kill it. Just down to driver and a good start.

Yeah the fiesta will be heavier and his 17's will slow him down, your mods wont increase your power much if at all to be honest, so it could be fairly close.

I reckon he will rape you in the ass..........Maybe its just me but 2 of my mates have VTR's and they feel stupidly slow

Lose some weight and get a few trial runs. The cars seem fairly even and I reckon it will depend on driver skill in changing gear and launch e.t.c.
Where are you planning to go Santa Pod?

looking at stats it will be very close. but you have things in favour, he is on 17s (unless he has track wheels??). but as said above, lose your spare wheel and perhaps take your back and passenger seats out! every little helps!!

make sure you warm your car up first aswell though!!! it helps

ive raced a few Zetec S's!
Ive raced 2 or 3 standard ones, the VTR should shyt on them all the way to about 80?
annnnnd....
I've raced one with an uprated manifold and exhaust system, airfilter and light weight rims, that was a little faster than my Standard VTR.
good luck, my money is on you pal xo

i think its £20 at santa pod, run what you brung.
usually might be more but havent been before.

im hoping to win because they zetec crew are forever doubting saxo's and calling them 'chav' cars...

we all know whats what here on sax-p.

think 4.5k might be high for a launch and the saxo will just spin and not grip good?

think vtr will win just lose all the wieght you can spare wheel, back seats and any sound sytem you may have in the boot and maybe fill her up with some shell optimax to clean your engine out and to make sure you have max bhp good luck
