I was in the turn lane waiting for the light to be green. All the sudden I smell wires burning, and smoke starts coming out of my steering column. I must add that the relay for my turn signal had been clicking quite often for no reason but had stopped over the last couple weeks. Well after I pulled over and made sure my car was not on fire, I discovered my turn signal lever would no longer move up and down.

Could a faulty relay really cause this?? Also, for those of you who have replaced a turn signal lever, do you really have to take the entire dash off to replace it? I tore it down to discover only 2 screws holding the lever assembly in place but there is no room to slide it out. Seems the only solution is to remove the dash to have room for the assembly to come out :n:
